Having read all the documentation about CUs for SSSE I am still none the wiser as much of what is written, in the many related webpages, appears ambigous, unclear and contraditory to me.

Could anyone clarify two points:

If, say,the December 2025 CU is installed, does it included all security and non security fixes for all features in SSSE?

Will Windows Update install the latest CE every month without any intervention including upgrading databases etc?

This is a SharePiont Server Subscription Edition on-prem farm. and Extrnal application needs to use data from SharePoint via REST api calls.
Need to setup external application to use SharePoint data from REST api via oAuth.

1) What are the steps i need to follow?

2) can this be supported by SharePoint Only App authentication (Granting access using SharePoint App-Only | Microsoft Learn) for SPSE on-prem?
Any sample REST based API calls to get tokens and call SharePoint would be really helpful.

3) Is it possible to use Azure AD app in for the same? if so how to configure trust between Azure AD and SPSE on-prem farm?

What's deprecated or removed from SharePoint Server Subscription Edition? - SharePoint Server | Microsoft Learn

According to this page the, July 14, 2026 after that date, SharePoint Designer 2013 will no longer be supported. But it looks like we still can create a publish workflows?

Does any body have suggestion for 3. Parties’ solution for that. Did checked Nintex K2 and its very expensive. We just have 10 workflows send email with content in body. And one approval workflow.

Any solution i can create with SPFX or in SP to have this opportunity to create WF. I know about VS but there are not that simple.

SharePoint Server Subscription Edition with Entra ID

Hi All,

Hope the weekend is going good. I am hoping that someone has done this, but i thought i would ask.

As you all know that project online has been announced as retiring in September 2026. I have been looking at a few options and one of that is Project Server Subscription Edition.

A few points to note:

Project server is an application that sits on the Sharepoint Subscription Server.
From the documentation - it does say we can integrate with MS Entra with Open ID
However, the conflicting point is that Sharepoint Services need Active Directory Services
From the documentation it also says the SQL Server or Managed Instance also requires Domain controller.

In our environment we have never had DCs or AD. We are totally dependent on Entra ID. Has anyone got any further information or done any experimentations around this?

I just don't have all the links with me right now, but happy to post them.

We really do want to avoid AADS (DCs) and Entra DDS.

Event Id :3351 Error in Sharepoint Subscription Edition

Hi,

I have a 3 server Farm on top on SharePoint Subscription Edition (2 WFE and 1 APP) on tied to a Always-On Database setup.

I am getting frequent 3351 errors in Event Id of each VM in the event viewer. Its indicating Login fails on Configuration Database for each of the 3 VMs (domain\Hostname$).

I am not sure why this is the case as all connections are going through the configured SharePoint Service Accounts, which seems to be working fine.

I am attaching screenshots from event viewer from each VM for reference.

Appreciate some input on this.

WebDav on SharePoint Subscription Edition

Hi Community,

I'm currently planning a migration from an old SharePoint 2016 On-Premises environment to M365, as well as moving some content to a new SharePoint Subscription Edition farm that will be operational for a few years.

My question is: Does anyone have a confirmed, official source stating that WebDav is still supported as of now? Ideally, I'm looking for any official information regarding the future of its support.

I understand that WebDav might not be the protocol of the future, but we still have some use cases that need to run for another year or so. Therefore, I want to ensure we can migrate these without concerns, or if we should start planning for alternatives.

I have successfully configured SharePoint SE to use OIDC with ADFS, but I have some questions regarding how it works. Does SharePoint use the authorization code to get an access/refresh token? It doesn't really need it, but I'd still like to know. If yes, is there a way to access that token from code somehow?

Issue with Debugging Event Receiver in SharePoint Subscription Edition

Hello everyone,

I’m currently facing an issue while debugging an event receiver in SharePoint Subscription Edition. Specifically, when I attach to the w3wp process, I encounter a System.NullReferenceException in the ControlBuilder.cs file.

Here’s the relevant code snippet:

Issue Adding Iframes in SharePoint Pages

Hello everyone,

We are currently facing an issue when trying to add iframes to our SharePoint pages. We receive the following message: "We cannot insert this HTML code because it contains an unsecured script."

We have already configured and allowed the necessary URLs in the "HTML Field Security" settings. However, the problem persists.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or can provide guidance on how to resolve this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

PDF Error Message

We are using SharePoint 2019 on-prem, and are having an issue with a few PDF documents that are being loaded to a document library. Attached is a screenshot for reference, but when a user tries to open the PDF, they get a "Failed to load PDF" error message. I've tried resaving the PDF, renaming the PDF, and uploading the PDF to a different library, but still get the error message. Not all PDF documents behave that way; I uploaded one last week without any issue. And the file size isn't an issue. I've checked the PDF to see if there are any security issues, but the PDF doesn't show any.

Has anyone had this issue and know how to resolve it?

[SPSE] new-SPServiceApplicationPool does not create IIS Application Pool

Hello,

I am running SPSE with 24-08 CU on a 2022 Windows server. Different scripted installations of service application fails at New-SPServiceApplicationPool. There is no error but the IIS application pool is not created even after waiting one night. I guess that the iis app pool is created by a timer job as it should be provisionned on all servers in the farm. In this case it is a single server farm.

But when using the central admin to create a new service application with a new application pool, the iis app pool is created but the specified name is replace by a GUID is IIS.

Is there a bug in the NEW-SPServiceApplicationPool commandlet ?

Is there a way to attach an IIS App Pool to a SP Service Pool ? I can't find the GUID of the IIS AppPool

SSO for Enterprise Applications with different authentication

Hi,

I have a customer who is looking to implement an Intranet Portal on their data center using SharePoint Subscription Edition (SPSE).

They want the portal as a single gateway/entry-point for all their enterprise applications. Hence, they are looking to implement SSO for their enterprise applications (Oracle apex, Custom Web Applications, etc.). As each application has their own authentication mechanism and protocols, would ADFS work in such a scenario?

If not, what are the alternatives?

Error opening Excel documents stored in SharePoint Subscription Edition MySite using excel app

Hi There,

Recently, we migrated the MySites from Sharepoint 2019 to Sharepoint Subscription Edition. We created new Managed Metadata Service, User Profile Service, Search service application, new Web application on the SE environment. Then, we migrated the content databases from SP 2019 to SE edition and mounted to the web application. We had 1500 users, but out of them three cannot open the excel files stored in their OneDrive using Excel application. They get the message "Access Denied. Contact your administrator" error when they try to open the file. However, they can open the same file using Excel Online connected with Office Online Server. So far, we have unlink their OneDrive client, and relinked them, deleted their MySite and created again using the MySiteHost auto site creation, but still the issue remains. The only change that we see is that their OU in the active directory changed, as compared in their User Profiles in UPS in both environments. When the administrator logs into their site from their PC, he can edit documents both online and client app based. Kindly suggest any fix to this issue.

Future Upgrades for Social Interaction in SPSE

Our organization currently uses SharePoint 2019 on-premise and we are interested in exploring whether future upgrades to SharePoint Server Subscription Edition (SPSE) might offer enhanced social interaction capabilities for our users. We have seen that Microsoft Viva Engage offers many valuable features for communication and collaboration, such as communities, conversations, and storylines. Unfortunately, cloud and hybrid solutions are not an option for us due to our specific IT policies.

Therefore, I would like to know if there are any plans to make similar social interaction functionalities available in SPSE. Is anyone aware of any future upgrades or expansions in this area for on-premises environments?

Any information or insight would be greatly appreciated.

SharePoint Subscription Edition Sync with One Drive

I am not able to get the configuration completed to sync SharePoint using one drive. Windows Server 2022 standard VM, SharePoint Subscription Edition, SQL Server 2022. SharePoint is working, I am the point of configure things for the One Drive Sync to work on the same domain and network with RDS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Migration of OneDrive from Sharepoint 2019 to Sharepoint Subscription Edition

I want to migrate sharepoint 2019 to sharepoint subscription edition. In the Microsoft documentation for database detach method of migration, it is written that all databases must be of version 16.0.4351.1000 or higher. However, sharepoint subscription edition supports SQL Server 2019 with CU 5 or higher. So, my Sharepoint Subscription Edition environment and my Sharepoint 2019 environment is on SQL Server 2019. So, how can I perform the migration? When I try to follow the steps written in upgrade instructions, the step on service application (UPS)

New-SPProfileServiceApplication -Name '<UserProfileApplicationName>' -ApplicationPool $applicationPool -ProfileDBName '<ProfileDBName>' -SocialDBName '<SocialDBName>' -ProfileSyncDBName '<SyncDBName>'

stalls and the command just stays without throwing any error. The User Profile Service is in the "starting" state and it fails with an exception when clicked. The Database version requirements for Subscription edition clearly states that it supports SQL Server 2019 CU5 and above as stated here. Can you please advise how can I perform the migration in such case?

SharePoint Server Subscription Edition Search indexing component crashing

I installed SharePoint Server Subscription Edition on Windows Server 2022 (standard with desktop experience) and the search service crawling is failing.

The server has 32GB ram.

The MS SQL Server 2022 runs on a separate server, on Windows Server 2022.

I installed the SharePoint update from April 2024, and ran the SharePoint products configuration wizard.

I already applied the 4 security policies as described in the article here.

I have these errors in the crawl log:

SharePoint Designer Workflow

It's been a long time since I've created a workflow in SharePoint Designer, so here's my question: I have a list in SharePoint, and when an item in that list is changed, I want an email to be sent. I have the email send working, but how do I include a link in the email, that will go directly to that item in SharePoint that was modified? I basically want to notify someone that they have an item in SharePoint to review and approve.

Migrate 300 TB of data to SharePoint 2019/SPSE

Due to some reasons we are planning to Migrate from OneDrive(M365) to OneDrive OnPrem (SharePoint 2019/SPSE). We are planning to use Sharegate to do the Migration.

However the challenge is we have 3000 users and approx. data for all the users is around 300 TB. And may be hosting this much amount of data in one Farm may not be feasible/unsupported based on Microsoft articles.

Hence I would need some best practices or suggestions as in how should I plan to host this huge data in an SharePoint farm.
