SDS - Sync & import of new data fails

Hi together,

we use School Data Sync version 2.1 with a configured flow for automatic import of the current CSV files runs normally without any visible errors, but the data from the CSV files is not imported from the local server.

I created the flow from “Automate CSV upload for task data synchronization.” In the flow, I was also able to open and select the local file system via the data gateway, so there is a connection to the server. The problem is that the files are not being imported.

Can anyone help with this error?

Classroom components missing

After completing SDS sync (no errors), activating the class, waiting overnight we are still having these issues with our SDS classroom teams.

Issues reported:

Can not attach file to an assignment (says try again, all file types from all locations)
Classroom notebooks can not be created (says Retry)
Students do not see assignments
Assignments disappearing from team
Student work folders are not created after an assignment has been added

Anyone else experiencing these issues?

For this 2025/2026 school startup we are experiencing issues with SDS Classroom teams not finishing all of the provisioning required. My feeling is that SDS is taking longer to finish the backend functions that happen after creating the security group, team, then classroom layer. This is eventually working on some teams but the experience is not consistent.

This is only happening with SDS Classroom teams, all classroom teams created manually are working as expected.

We typically have ~ 5000 SDS classroom teams / year.

Sync errors not reset

After errors, listed in the Sync Errors CSV overview, are solved, the errors are not reset and remain in the CSV. Is there a way to reset the error file? Since we use the Power Automate Flow "Send Email on School Data Sync Errors" where a threshold is used, it would be very handy not to have to raise the threshold every time, but keep it at 0 where every NEW error is being reported with an email.

How to export list of all users with all the attributes

School Data Sync with OneDrive for file upload

Any plan to have School Data Sync Toolkit work with OneDrive or SharePoint vs local UNC path?
Can SDS Toolkit work as an API or in a container? Today we have to install it in an Azure VM or local server and that adds unnecessary point of failure and increases cost

SDS reports insufficient privileges on import

Hi There,

We've been using classic SDS for a couple of years now to create edu teams for our classes. We have a profile set up for this using "CSV Files: SDS format". Never experienced much troubles with that. Errors could usually be fixed by reading the error report.

Up until this schoolyear. This year we are getting a lot of errors concerning "insufficient privileges". Entries like:

EntryStatus: Error

EntryType: SchoolStudents

ErrorCode: AzureActiveDirectoryInsufficientRights

ErrorMessage: Insufficient privileges to complete the operation.

JoiningValue: School_3

MitigationSteps: <empty>

Operation: Update

RecordedTime: <some date>

TenantActionable: true

ReportableIdentifier: 3

About a thousand of those error are shown.

EntryType has 4 distinct values: Schoolreference, Schoolstudents, Schoolteachters or SectionReference

JoiningValue varies from School_3 up to School_6

ReportableIdentifier changes with the JoiningValue

I have no clue as to what SDS is trying to do. Don't know what the problem is other than insufficient privileges.

Is there a place (log or something) which will explain what is going on?

How can we pull the data from MS LEarn?

Urgent - SDS didn't create group or teams

I created the CSV files and synced them.

He didn't give any mistakes and everything turned up right, but he didn't create either the MS365 groups or the Teams teams. What could it be?

UnmatchedEntry errors on Student Enrollment

I'm getting a lot of UnmatchedEntry errors on my SDS upload. I can't seem to figure out what's going on. Looking at just one specific section and I see 6 unmatched entry errors on the Enrollments CSV. There are 2 teachers and 22 students in this section. I checked the Teachers, Enrollments, and Sections CSVs and everything looks good. All students and teachers exist in Azure, their email addresses match but yet SDS keeps throwing errors. The Microsoft Team is never created either. I'm at a loss; has anyone else seen this? Also, this is happening to dozens of sections but I'm singling out one for troubleshooting.

Our SDS syncs using Clever CSVs. The same section syncs fine in Clever...

There is too much data to redact from the students.csv but I have verified all students listed in the enrollments are also in the students.csv with the same ID.

Not all users are added to an existing team

I use SDS V2.1 format.
For some reasons not all students are added to a team. The profile expects that all users do exist in Office365, and the students exist in Office365. I can see them in the dashboard of SDS and they have a proper SISId (pic1).

They are listen in users.csv (pic2)

in roles.csv (pic3)

and in enrolment.csv with section 62. (pic4)

With every sync, there are no errors about these students of class. (only a warnng about the name of the team.)

But the student is never added to the team

If I create a new team (via SDS) this students is added to the team. And there are other cases were new students are added to existing teams.

Does anybody had simular problems. ( I never had this when I used V1 of SDS last year.

Hi,

Have just started investigating SDS. When run, Teams get created as expected etc and membership is sorted, but the underlying 365 groups are prefixed section_

what causes this, and what do i need to do to either have something sensible, or nothing at all? Im using CSV2.1 format, which doesnt have a SECTIONS.CSV file, and this feels like a hangover from the 1.0 files. In cases its important im in the UK, and there is a specific UK 1.0 definition that also has SECTIONS.CSV but im not using it - there doesnt seem to be a UK specific version of 2.1

How often does school data sync run?

Are there any criteria that need to be fulfilled?

I have seen SDS get data, do a run... but not a full run it seems since all teams are not updating. On the evening i see teams being updated instead when a second run have gone by. So it seems each run does not do the same thing?

Can i force run the SDS if we have sent in much new data and i want to see the teams update fast?

School Data Sync - how to use Powerplattform together with SDS data that is imported?

How can i access the data that SDS is using from the powerplattform.

If we import students, parents, schools, groups and classes etc.

How can we fetch the imported data and the results of SDS work?

I would really like to find a good option to access this data.

This would open up so many possibilities to use the powerplattform and create tool based on the correct data imported via SDS.

Updating existing SDS M365 groups using a new SDS profile.

Hi Folks,

We have a setup where we want a student's Class team to run for the duration of their course, whether that be 1, 2 or 5 years etc.

At the end of this academic year, our current SDS M365 groups/Teams will stop being updated when our SDS profile end date passes.

When the new profile is activated, if the details for a course in the uploaded CSV remain exactly the same for those courses that are still running, will this continue to update the existing M365 group/team, or because it will be a new SDS profile, will this create a duplicate M365 group and team?

Teams not appearing when SDS imported teachers/students logon

Hi, I have used sample CSV from https://github.com/OfficeDev/O365-EDU-Tools/tree/master/CSV%20Samples/UK%20Format/25%20Users and imported via SDS.

After importing the CSV, I can see O365 accounts, O365 groups & Teams has been created. Teams also has students as the members and teacher as the owner. However when teacher logon to the Teams, all they can see is "Create a team" or "Join a team with code". And same for the students as well. Have I missed anything, any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

'Section display names are always synced' not working ?

Hi everyone.

I've just wasted an hour of my life crosschecking data sources and SDS logs as one group has been reported AWOL. Eventually I found the missing group, and Azure Audit Logs show me it was renamed by a Group Owner to something nonsensical.

Our Sync Profile has this setting - but it doesn't seem to work as advertised:
Sync Option for section group display name: Section display names are always synced.

Should that option work ? can you direct me at any Azure/CloudAppSecurity Audit logs which could point to a rename failure ?

We are synchronising via Flow, if that makes a difference?

Not all Teams are available in Groups list

In Admin center, Groups view, I see Teams icons many SDS created groups, but not all. Can someone explain why? And do I need to correct it with a Reset Sync?

New student cannot be synced to SDS

Dear all,

This year we got some issues, I found some of new students cannot be added to SDS. This issue is only happened in new students. Teachers, old students and courses can update successfully.

I attached some pictures and file here.

Here is one of the issue code. We checked the students email and username in PowerSchool, but we don’t find any questions. Hoping you can send me some suggestions to fix that.

Groups page for cleanup unavailable

Hi, I want to archive the SDS created teams, so I click on the blue Groups link in the Profile expired warning box.

But I get a 404 Page not found error.

How can I bypass or solve this error?
