Microsoft Edge for Business, the new, dedicated work experience for the Microsoft Edge browser, is now available in Microsoft Edge stable version 116. All customers who sign into Edge using Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) will automatically be transitioned to Microsoft Edge for Business as part of the release.

What to expect with Microsoft Edge for Business:

Policies, settings, and configurations previously set by an organization and its Entra ID connected users will be automatically transitioned to Edge for Business.
IT maintains full control over policy and feature management and configuration with Edge for Business.
The icon will be updated to include a briefcase.
An optional personal browsing window, Microsoft Edge, is enabled so users with a personal profile can separate their work and personal browsing and take advantage of the full feature set of Edge for personal use. This will also enable automatic switching from the personal to work browser window when work sites are accessed. The personal browser window is lightly managed, with IT maintaining control over security, compliance, and update policies.

From the beginning, Microsoft Edge was designed with the specific needs of businesses and organizations in mind, with enterprise grade security, productivity, management, and now AI, built in. Microsoft Edge for Business is the next step in the journey to deliver the best browser for business across all platforms, with enhanced separation of work and personal browsing, unmanaged device support, and more coming soon.

General

Is this a new browser? 

No, this is not a new browser. This is a new, dedicated Microsoft Edge experience built for work that enables organizations to configure it to maximize productivity and security. It has the same functionality that you’re already familiar with in Microsoft Edge in addition to optional automatic switching built to help meet the evolving needs of users and businesses. Signing in with Microsoft Entra ID will automatically enable Microsoft Edge for Business. 

How is Edge for Business differentiated from regular Microsoft Edge? 

Microsoft Edge for Business is a dedicated work browsing experience. It’s distinguished through visual elements such as an adjusted icon and other minor visual cues. 

IT maintains full control over policy and feature management and configuration with Edge for Business. Meanwhile, Microsoft Edge is lightly managed, with IT maintaining control over security and compliance policies of the personal browsing window. With users separating their work and personal browsing and content, personal data can be excluded from enterprise sync in the work browser window, giving users the privacy they want.

What benefit does Microsoft Edge for Business provide? 

For IT, Microsoft Edge for Business can reduce the surface area for cyberattacks, heightening the organization’s security posture, since it offers the opportunity to streamline down to one browser for all use cases. For end users who are signed in with work and personal profiles, Edge for Business can provide a better browsing experience with automatic switching, which has security and privacy benefits.

Does Microsoft Edge for Business require a separate download? 

No. Microsoft Edge for Business is automatically triggered by signing in with a Microsoft Entra ID.

User experience

What will the user experience be when Edge for Business becomes available?

After Edge stable version 116 release is deployed, and the browser is restarted:

The Microsoft Edge icon will be updated to the Edge for Business icon
When the user launches Edge for Business, Microsoft Entra ID users will automatically be signed in
A one-time banner will appear at the top of the browser after first launching Edge for Business informing the user of the change with a link to learn more

If a user launches Microsoft Edge without signing in, do all corporate policies apply?

Yes, all corporate policies will apply. On a managed PC, all users get Edge for Business unless they sign in with their MSA. Users who sign in with their MSA will receive the personal browser window.

What impact will the change to Edge for Business have on users?

Users who are only signed in with Microsoft Entra ID

After Edge stable version 116 release is deployed, and the browser is restarted, all users who sign in with Microsoft Entra ID will be transitioned to Edge for Business. Edge for Business inherits all configurations and policies previously set for Microsoft Edge, so the main difference users will see at this time is the Microsoft Edge for Business icon and a new location for their profile photo.

Users who are signed in with both Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Account (MSA)

Users who are also signed in with a personal profile (using their Microsoft account (MSA)) can experience automatic switching between their work browser window (Microsoft Edge for Business) and their personal browser window (Microsoft Edge).

With the Edge stable version 116 release:

Switching from the personal browser window to the work browser window will be on by default with the option to turn off by the user
Switching from the work browser window to the personal browser window will be off by default with the option to turn on by the user. Switching from the work browser window to the personal browser window will be default on in future versions of Edge for Business.
To turn on/off automatic switching, visit Edge settings and toggle on/off “Automatic profile switching”.

Work-related sites, such as Microsoft 365 apps and services and sites requiring work login, automatically open in the work browser window. A growing set of popular sites open in the personal browser window once enabled by the user in Edge settings. Users can designate additional sites for work or personal use in settings. (Note: user site designation cannot be overwritten by IT administrators at this time.)

Is Edge for Business planned to be the default experience on all OS’s where Edge is currently available? (New August 8, 2023)

Microsoft Edge for Business is planned to be available for Mac and Linux with Edge stable version 116.

What happens to favorites, passwords, etc.? 

Passwords, favorites, and data currently associated with the user’s work profile will be maintained in Edge for Business. Passwords, favorites, and data are not shared between the work browser window and the personal browser window. 

What impact will this cause to my default browser settings?

There is no impact to users' default browser settings. 

Will users see both the Edge and Edge for Business icons on the taskbar?

Users that are only signed in with Entra ID will see the Edge for Business icon and not the Edge icon.

Are there materials I can share with my end users to prepare them?

Yes! A downloadable email draft is available and is linked at the bottom of this post.

IT management and controls

Will all policies and configurations previously set by IT be applied to Edge for Business?

Yes, all policies and configurations currently in place will be inherited by Edge for Business.

What controls will IT admins have?

IT maintains control over the security and compliance posture of both Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Edge for Business. Edge is lightly managed, with users able to access all features, while in Edge for Business, IT can control which features are available to users.

IT admins can disable the personal browser window so that their users can only access Edge for Business. Please note that in this case, users will not be able to use Microsoft account based personal profiles and will not experience automatic switching between work and personal browsing.

 What policies will be enabled in the personal browser window?

The Microsoft Edge personal browser window is lightly managed, with all security, compliance, and Edge update policies applied, without the additional overhead of managing another browser. To learn more, please visit this site.

How does my organization turn off the personal browser window?

To turn off the personal browser window, please follow the steps listed in this document. 

Does Edge for Business support unmanaged devices?

Yes, Edge for Business includes support for unmanaged devices, currently available in preview. Please use these steps to access this preview.

Is Edge for Business available on mobile?

Edge for Business will be available on mobile with Edge stable version 116 and comes with enterprise grade security, productivity, management, and AI built in. An updated icon, automatic switching, and management via the Edge management service in the Microsoft 365 admin center will be available for mobile in the future.

Can anyone with a Microsoft Entra ID (formerly known as Azure Active Directory) can get Microsoft Edge for Business? 

Microsoft Edge for Business will be the standard experience for all users with a Microsoft Entra ID.

Will my sites and apps that work in Microsoft Edge work in Microsoft Edge for Business?

Yes, sites and apps that currently work in Microsoft Edge will work in Microsoft Edge for Business.

Are there any functional changes to the Entra ID profile?

No. There are not any functional changes to the Entra ID profile.

Automatic Switching

How do I switch between the Microsoft Edge for Business browser window and the Microsoft Edge browser window? 

With the Edge stable version 116 release, URLs entered into the personal browser window that are for work-related sites, such as Microsoft 365 apps and services and sites requiring work login, will automatically open in the work browser window.

Do I need to enable automatic switching?

With this release, switching from the personal browser window to the work browser window will be on by default with the option to turn off by the user. Switching from the work browser window to the personal browser window will be off by default with the option to turn on by the user. This will be enabled by default in a future release. To turn on/off automatic switching, visit Edge settings and toggle on/off “Automatic profile switching”.

Are the work and personal browser window connected?

The work browser window (Microsoft Edge for Business) and personal browser window (Microsoft Edge) will have their own separate caches and storage locations, so information stays separate. This feature does not create any link between the user's Microsoft Entra ID account and their MSA account, and the organization settings related to linking work and personal accounts are unaffected. There are no functional changes to the Entra ID profile.

How does a user customize the work and personal URL list?

To designate sites to open automatically in the work and personal browser windows, go to edge://settings/profiles/multiProfileSettings and select “Choose preferred browser for sites” to turn off or select a preferred profile for the applicable site.

Is there a group policy to customize the work and personal URL list?

Not at this time.

Is there a group policy to turn on/off automatic switching?

At this time, only users will be able to turn switching between work and personal browser windows on and off.

For organizations that do not want automatic switching or personal profile usage, there is a group policy to turn off multiple profiles.

Is there a group policy to add sites to the site list?

Not at this time.

When the user switches between work and personal browser windows, are they logged out of sites and apps? 

No, switching between the work and personal browser windows will not log the user out of sites and apps.  

How do I adjust which browser window a site is opened in?

There are two ways to change which browser window is used to open a website: 

Click the Switching icon, pictured below, to switch back to the preferred browser window. This action makes the browser remember your choice for that URL.

Go to edge://settings/profiles/multiProfileSettings and select “Profile preferences for sites” to turn off or select a preferred profile for the applicable site.

Improving security and productivity: Securely save files from Microsoft Edge on mobile devices

Thousands of enterprise customers globally entrust the Microsoft Edge mobile app to keep their data secure and protected while browsing on mobile devices. Today, we're announcing a new way for users to download and access files securely on mobile devices, beginning with version 111 of the Edge mobile app. Instead of downloading and saving files locally on mobile devices - which can put enterprise data at risk - users can now securely download and save files from the Edge mobile app to OneDrive so they can access them later.

Previously, customers with high bars for security fought potential data leakage on mobile devices by blocking users from saving files to local device storage. While secure, this was not ideal for users. We heard time and again from customers that their users needed a way to save files without compromising security. Saving files to OneDrive (instead of locally) offers a simple solution that allows users to easily save, access, and share files from the Edge mobile app while respecting security parameters set their enterprise.

This new method of saving files joins other Edge data security measures such as the Edge mobile app's coverage under Intune’s App Protection Policy (APP) and its limited sharing of browser data only to other protected Microsoft 365 apps, such as Outlook and One Drive.

Microsoft Edge and Adobe partner to improve the PDF experience

To ensure a quality-driven deployment, the commercial rollout for embedding the Adobe PDF engine into the Microsoft Edge built-in PDF reader will operate on a phased rollout, beginning in October 2025.

The legacy engine for the Microsoft Edge built-in PDF reader will be removed in June 2026.

As part of the Adobe and Microsoft collaboration to re-envision the future workplace and your digital experiences, we are natively embedding the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine into the Microsoft Edge built-in PDF reader, with a release scheduled in March 2023. This leverages the industry-leading technologies that Adobe and Microsoft use to bring innovative value to the modern hybrid working environment. By powering the Microsoft Edge built-in PDF reader with the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine, users will receive a unique PDF experience that includes higher fidelity for more accurate colors and graphics, improved performance, strong security for PDF handling, and greater accessibility—including better text selection and read-aloud narration. These capabilities will continue to be free of cost.

Consumer (and unmanaged) users of Microsoft Edge will see this change immediately. This will roll out to organizations with managed devices over time, to allow time to test the updated experience and transition users. Microsoft Edge users and organizations with existing Adobe Acrobat subscriptions can use the Acrobat extension inside Microsoft Edge at no extra cost. There is no requirement to purchase an Adobe Acrobat subscription to use the Microsoft Edge built-in PDF free capabilities.

When will this be available?

The built-in Microsoft Edge PDF reader, powered by the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine, rolls out to consumers starting in March 2023, with an option for organizations with managed devices to opt-in via Intune, SCCM, or group policy. Admins in commercial and educational organizations can enable or disable the “NewPDFReaderEnabled” policy to test the built-in Microsoft Edge PDF reader with the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine.

Is this an integration of the entire Adobe Acrobat PDF application?

No, this is not an integration of the Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader applications. This is an integration of a new PDF engine.

On what platforms will Adobe Acrobat PDF capabilities in Microsoft Edge be released?

The built-in Microsoft Edge PDF reader with the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine will be released for Windows 10 and 11.

Will Adobe Acrobat PDF capabilities in Microsoft Edge be available on macOS?

Availability for MacOS is coming in the future. We will have more to share at a later date.

Will this change affect Internet Explorer mode (“IE mode”) in Microsoft Edge?

This change will not have any effect on IE mode.

Does this change mean that the Microsoft Edge PDF reader is going away and being replaced by Adobe Reader?

No, the Microsoft Edge PDF reader is not going away. With this announcement and partnership with Adobe, we are enhancing the existing built-in Microsoft Edge PDF reader . The features and capabilities you already enjoy with the Microsoft Edge PDF reader will continue to be available and, thanks to the partnership with Adobe, you can also expect additional benefits at no extra cost, such as higher fidelity for more accurate colors and graphics, improved performance, strong security for PDF handling, and greater accessibility—including better text selection and read-aloud narration. The built-in Microsoft Edge PDF solution will continue to be free and will remain a separate product from Adobe Acrobat. The partnership creates a unique PDF experience in Microsoft Edge that brings together the built-in Microsoft Edge PDF reader and the new component of the PDF engine from Adobe Acrobat. To access Adobe Acrobat’s advanced digital document features within Microsoft Edge, an Adobe Acrobat extension and a paid Adobe Acrobat subscription is required.

Will there be a cost to use Adobe Acrobat PDF capabilities in Microsoft Edge?

The built-in Microsoft Edge PDF solution will continue to be free. Users who want more advanced digital document features—such as the ability to edit text and images, convert PDFs to other file formats, and combine files—can purchase an Acrobat subscription that enables access to these advanced features inside Microsoft Edge via an extension. Those with an existing Adobe Acrobat subscription can use the Acrobat extension inside Microsoft Edge at no extra cost.

What’s changing with Adobe Acrobat PDF capabilities in Microsoft Edge compared to the existing Microsoft Edge PDF solution? Will Microsoft Edge users lose PDF functionality?

With the change to the use of the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine in the built-in Microsoft Edge PDF reader, you can expect additional benefits at no extra cost, such as higher fidelity for more accurate colors and graphics, improved performance, strong security for PDF handling, and greater accessibility—including better text selection and read-aloud narration. The built-in Microsoft Edge PDF solution with the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine will have full feature parity with the legacy Microsoft Edge PDF solution. No functionality will be lost. We will continue to add free features to the built-in Microsoft Edge PDF reader in the future.

Visually, users will see an unobtrusive Adobe brand mark in the bottom corner of their PDF view. Upon zooming into a document, the brand mark disappears. The brand mark is not a watermark—it will not be added to PDFs opened, saved, or printed in Microsoft Edge.

Users will also see an option to try the advanced features, such as converting PDFs, combining files, editing text and images. Users can sign in with their existing Adobe Acrobat subscription or can select the option to purchase an Adobe Acrobat subscription and download the Adobe Acrobat extension to use these advanced features in Microsoft Edge.

To be clear, this is not an integration of the Adobe Acrobat PDF application. This is only an integration of the engine.

Will this PDF engine change result in our organizational documents to be stored on Adobe servers?

Using the free built-in Microsoft Edge PDF reader with the Adobe Acrobat engine will not result in your organizational documents to be stored on Adobe servers. Microsoft Edge and the Microsoft Edge PDF reader do not store your documents today and there are no changes to that.

How do I use the advanced Adobe Acrobat PDF features in Microsoft Edge?

Activating the advanced features with the Adobe Acrobat PDF extension in Microsoft Edge requires a paid Adobe Acrobat subscription. To activate the features, in the PDF view in Microsoft Edge, navigate to the top right corner of the window and click the button with messaging to try the advanced features. From there follow the prompts best suiting your needs to complete the transaction. If you already have a paid Adobe Acrobat subscription, you can sign into your existing account to use the advanced features at no additional cost.

Which paid versions of Adobe Acrobat will work with Microsoft Edge?

Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Acrobat Standard customers can sign in and use all the premium features available directly in the Adobe Acrobat extension for Microsoft Edge. Adobe Acrobat 2020 does not offer online services and therefore its premium features are not accessible in Microsoft Edge.

Can general users opt out of using Adobe Acrobat PDF capabilities in Microsoft Edge?

General users will be unable to revert to using the legacy PDF engine in Microsoft Edge after the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine launches.

How will this affect commercial organizations?

When rollout begins in March 2023, there will be no changes to managed Windows devices in organizations unless you choose to opt in. Users on unmanaged Windows devices will see an unobtrusive Adobe brand mark in the bottom corner of their PDF view. These users will also see an option to try the advanced features, such as converting PDFs, combining files, editing text and images. If an organization chooses to opt in, users on managed devices will see the same changes. The built-in Microsoft Edge PDF solution with the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine will have full feature parity with the legacy Microsoft Edge PDF solution. No functionality will be lost.

Users can sign in with their existing Adobe Acrobat subscription or can select the option to purchase an Adobe Acrobat subscription and download the Adobe Acrobat extension to use the advanced digital document features in Microsoft Edge.

How will this affect educational organizations?

EDU users on managed Windows devices will follow the same protocol as managed devices in commercial organizations. For EDU users that are not on a managed Windows device, they will automatically receive Adobe Acrobat PDF capabilities in Microsoft Edge starting in March 2023.

What environments apply to “managed devices”? (AAD joined, Hybrid AAD, on-prem AD, etc.)

Managed devices include any device that is domain-joined or MDM-enrolled.

How can commercial organizations opt into using Adobe Acrobat PDF capabilities in Microsoft Edge at launch?

Admins in commercial organizations can enable or disable the “NewPDFReaderEnabled” policy to test the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine.

How can commercial organizations make a gradual change to adopting Adobe Acrobat PDF capabilities in Microsoft Edge?

To meet the needs of organizations with managed devices, the transition to the built-in Microsoft Edge PDF reader with the Adobe Acrobat PDF engine will occur in phases, with an initial opt-in option for managed devices. Policies will be made available no sooner than the timings in the table below.

How can organizations control the visibility of the option to try advanced digital features that require a paid Adobe Acrobat subscription?

Commercial and educational organizations can control the visibility of the option to try advanced digital features that require a paid Adobe Acrobat subscription. Admins can enable or disable the “ShowAcrobatSubscriptionButton” policy to control the visibility of the option to users.

Is the policy for opt-in and opt-out exclusive to Intune? Will this be available in group policy or SCCM?

The “NewPDFReaderEnabled” policy is available in Intune, Group Policy, and SCCM.

How will this change affect WebView2 users and applications?

The PDF experience for WebView2 users will be at parity with the current Microsoft Edge built-in PDF reader. The option to access paid Adobe Acrobat premium features will not be visible in the new PDF experience on WebView2. The unobtrusive Adobe brand mark will also not be visible in WebView2.

How can organizations opt-in to try the new PDF experience in WebView2?
The "NewPDFReaderWebView2List" policy is available for organizations to opt-in and opt-out of the new PDF experience in WebView2.

WebView2developers can also enable the experimental flag "msPDFSharedLibrary" explicitly in code.

How can organizations opt-out from receiving Adobe advertising notifications?

Organizations can disable the “Edit with Acrobat” button that appears in the top‑right corner of the viewer by using the ShowAcrobatSubscriptionButton policy. More details can be found in our policy documentation.

When will the legacy PDF engine in Microsoft Edge be removed? (Updated September 30, 2025)

The PDF engine in the Microsoft Edge built-in PDF reader is scheduled to be removed in June 2026.

Will using the Adobe Acrobat PDF extension in Microsoft Edge change my default PDF viewer?

Downloading, installing, or using the Adobe Acrobat PDF extension in Microsoft Edge will not automatically change your default PDF viewer.

I’m already an Adobe subscriber. If I’m using Microsoft Edge, what do I need to do to use the Adobe Acrobat PDF extension?

You can access all your paid Adobe Acrobat premium features by signing into your Adobe Acrobat account and using the extension in Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft Edge mobile embraces more UEM solutions

With the release of version 109, Microsoft Edge is now available to be managed by third-party Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) solutions in addition to Microsoft Intune. This new capability provides organizations greater flexibility to manage Microsoft Edge through their preferred UEM solution as they embrace Microsoft Edge as their go-to browser for mobile devices.

Requesting that Microsoft Edge management expand to third-party UEM solutions has been common feedback from customers, and we're excited to bring this capability to organizations. Previously, Microsoft Edge mobile was not manageable by UEM solutions other than Microsoft Intune.

You can find more details on how to manage Microsoft Edge on iOS or Android using Microsoft Intune—such as managing bookmarks or disabling features like InPrivate, sync, etc.—from Manage Microsoft Edge on iOS and Android with Intune | Microsoft Learn.

30+ management policies from the Chromium Policy List will be available in the first batch of policies to make Microsoft Edge manageable by other UEM solutions. The details of these 30+ policies are documented on Microsoft Edge Mobile Policy Documentation | Microsoft Learn. We are proactively collecting new policy requirements from our customers—if there is any policy requirement from you, feel free to leave comments in this blog.

These 30+ policies are configured via MDM channels, meaning that Microsoft Edge can be managed by any UEM solutions, including Microsoft Intune. Different from the MAM channel configuration today, these management policies do not require user login. Regardless of the login state, the management policies will be applied.

We are also working to support additional policies that are only configurable today via MAM with Microsoft Intune via MDM channels. Once these policies are ready, we will update Microsoft Edge Mobile Policy Documentation | Microsoft Learn.

Importing your passwords from third-party password managers to Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge is committed to making your browsing experience convenient and secure. The built-in password manager helps you generate strong passwords, provide password health feedback, and warn you if any of your stored passwords are found in a known online leak. Your passwords are securely stored and can be accessed on all platforms – macOS, Linux, and Windows; iOS and Android using Microsoft Authenticator app; even other browsers using Microsoft Autofill extension. Here's how you can import your passwords from third-party password managers. It’s a two-step process. First, you will need to export your passwords to a CSV file. Second, import the CSV file to Microsoft Edge.

Note: Exported data files are not encrypted, they are stored in plain text. Anyone with access to your exported data files will be able to read your passwords. Do not email exported data files or store them online. Delete the file immediately after importing passwords and empty Recycle Bin or Trash to be safe. On Windows (and most Linux distros), you can right-click on the Recycle Bin and select “Empty Recycle Bin”. On macOS, long-click on the Trash icon in the dock and select “Empty Trash”.

Exporting passwords to a CSV file

Avira

Go to https://passwords.avira.com
Log in to your Avira Password Manager
Click the Settings icon in the left-hand menu
Scroll down to the “MY DATA” area and click Export data
Click Export CSV to save the file on your system
This will download a CSV file

Bitwarden

Login to your Bitwarden web vault
Click Tools in the top navigation bar
Select Export Vault and choose CSV file format
Enter your master password and click Export Vault
This will download a CSV file

Dashlane

Open the Dashlane web app (https://www.dashlane.com/) and log in to your account
Open account settings from the “My Account” button on the left sidebar
Select “Export data” from the right sidebar
Click on the “Export to CSV”. This will download a CSV file is the selected location

LastPass

Click the LastPass extension icon in the Address Bar in the browser window
→ “Export”
Enter the master password for the LastPass vault (There may be email verification needed for certain account types as well)
This will download a CSV file in the selected location

Norton Password Manager

Open Norton Password Manager web app
Select Settings -> “Export my vault data”
Choose Export option from the “Export my vault data” popup
Unlock the vault using vault password
This will download a CSV file
Remove the first two rows from CSV that mention metadata including product version
Edit column headers
1. User Name to username
2. Login URL to url

True Key

Click on the True Key extension on your browser and log in
Click the geared wheel which is at the top right corner of the page, and then go to App Settings → Export
It should prompt you the export my profile data window, where you need to click Continue
Enter your Master Password and click Unlock
This will download a CSV file

1Password 8 exports to the 1Password Unencrypted Export (.1pux) format or a comma-separated values (CSV) file. The CSV format supports a limited set of fields and will only export Login and Password items. To export your 1Password data in 1Password 8:

Open and unlock 1Password.
Click at the top of the sidebar, choose Export, and select the account you want to export.
Enter your account password.
Choose CSV as export format and click Export Data.
Choose where you want to export your 1Password data and click Open.

Select the items you want to export. Select multiple items by holding down the Ctrl key when clicking on them. Select all the items by pressing Ctrl + A after clicking one of the items in the list.

Instructions for Mac

Open and unlock 1Password.
Select the vault you want to export. It’s not possible to export from “All Vaults”, so you’ll need to switch to a specific vault.
Choose File > Export > All Items. If you belong to a team account, there may be some vaults where you don’t have the “Export items” permission. Ask your team administrator.
Enter your 1Password account password.
Choose Comma Delimited Text (.csv) format
Click Save.

Importing passwords to Microsoft Edge

In Microsoft Edge, go to Settings and more > Settings
Click "Import Passwords" from Profiles -> Import Browser data -> Import from other password managers
Click on Choose file and select the CSV file exported earlier.
You should see a confirmation message – “All done! We’ve brought your data over.”
Confirm that “Offer to save passwords” is enabled under Settings -> Profiles -> Passwords. This will ensure that your future passwords will be saved to Edge
To let Edge save all passwords automatically in future, enable “Automatically save passwords” as well

Survey results and an update on our plans with the Insiders

Greetings, Insiders! We’ve thrown a couple surveys at you this year and we went through every submission you sent to us. There is a ton of valuable information you provided on how we can improve. We heard that the rate of updates to your feedback suggestions is a frustration, some of our Insider pages need updating, and the engagement from the team can be improved. I personally appreciate everyone’s candid thoughts on how we are doing; there is no way we can improve without helpful feedback from our community. As we work to make improvements across our communities, I wanted to share what we heard from you and what else we want to improve.

February 2022 Insider Survey

We didn’t talk much about the survey results from earlier this year, and we’d like to apologize for that. We looked at the feedback you provided, organized it into the themes we identified, shared it with the right groups so they know how our community feels, and made sure our team knew what our next steps were to help improve things. Here on our Insider forums, it’s clear you all crave more engagement directly from the team, but in general you are pretty satisfied with this space. You also told us that there are ways we can improve the Dev channel for smoother testing of features (for example, a slimmed-down version of the channel), and asked for us to provide more details about what new flags do when they are implemented. For Twitter, we have improvements we can make, although those of you who submitted feedback to us do like what we utilize our Twitter handle for (in our case, we mean the MSEdgeDev Twitter account). Our Reddit communities told us they would also like more engagement on their posts, and I believe this is the space where we can improve the most. We also did a separate survey for our Insiders who only see our What’s New page, and there were a ton of insights you all shared about the Insider website in general. We understand that there can be changes to the website like making the community stand out more, making it clear on how to find things within the program, and making improvements to the Insider road map. The results of this survey also drove us to push out the Feedback Survey in June: we wanted to gather more data to get a clearer understanding of what you were telling us regarding feedback submissions in February’s survey.

Feedback submissions for the browser

The feedback survey was a detailed peek into your pain points. We got 136 responses, and it took on average an hour to complete. I really need to thank you all for taking that time to give the team your thoughts. I know that survey was lengthy, but you truly helped us identify our feedback gaps, some of which we knew, and some of which you illuminated for us. We will aim to have a much shorter survey in the future; it will be focused more on hearing your personal experiences with the improvements we plan on making and if there are other improvements we can work on.

First up, discoverability.

Finding out how to submit feedback to the team can be difficult. We have about 5 different ways you can submit feedback to the Microsoft Edge team, and that’s not counting if you simply message an employee your feedback. That’s a lot to work through and it can be really frustrating to figure out which method is the best method for your feedback. We want to clear that up for our community. One of the ways we do this is the bottom of my Reddit Dev update posts and the bottom of the first tile on the Insider update pages, but not every Insider sees these things – a totally fair callout! Next, engagement.

Y’all want more ways to engage with feedback submissions, and we get that. This is something we have heard from the community since we moved away from the Windows Feedback Hub. In this survey, we heard that you feel submitting feedback is like it’s being sent to a black hole, the experience for the tools can be clunky, your preferred way of submitting feedback is through our in-app tool, and you all really enjoy the features currently available on the Community Feedback site. With the addition of the Community Feedback site at the end of 2021, we started working towards giving you the feedback visibility and engagement features you’ve missed. There are more ways we can get the word out about this space: that Insider page explaining the best places to submit feedback is one step we are taking to help with this. There are benefits to this new platform like being able to see your feedback submissions on the My Feedback page and the ability to vote and comment on others’ feedback. We are working with our partners on that team and have plans for you to be able to track your Community Feedback suggestions directly in our in-app feedback tool. We hope to have more updates around those Community Feedback improvements as we get them.

Engagement also includes the status updates for our public feedback list from the team. We have been painfully aware of how stale this list looks, with several items remaining on it for longer than a year with no update. With scarce updates, it looks like we have let that list fall to the wayside, and we understand how frustrating that is to you all. We are working on better ways to surface your feedback to you, make it clearer how your feedback ends up on these lists, and the improvements we want are looking for on the Community Feedback site will make it easier to track your feedback and get answers directly from Microsoft.

And lastly, how frequently we update things is a frustration.

This is another fair criticism, and one we have heard since we reduced the Top Feedback Summary to monthly updates. We don’t have solid plans currently while we work on everything I have talked about so far, but there are things we will improve further down the road. We are looking at how to better communicate to you when new feedback suggestions appear publicly, how we can improve not only the community team’s engagement with feedback but also our engineering and PM teammates’ since they may be new to chatting with our community, and how you all can engage with each other’s feedback suggestions. We aren’t going to sugarcoat this: there are a lot of changes that we know need to happen, and it’s going to be a long road ahead of us. We are focusing on platform and website improvements first, for which we will be creating new, meaningful ways for our team to engage with your feedback submissions.

Insider Roadmap

We heard from the community that the Insider roadmap leaves much to be desired. We understand the pain points and were already talking internally about updates that page needs. Your feedback on this helped us push up these plans so that we can work on making the roadmap a more actionable page for you all to keep track of what is being released and what version you can expect to see it in. As we work on improving that page, we are going to take it down temporarily. Not to fret, though! You can still watch for updates on our What’s New page to track what we are adding into our Dev and Canary channels, as has been tradition.

Community support updates

We created the Insider ticketed support team to ensure early adopters of Chromium-based Microsoft Edge had a direct path to the team to provide diagnostics for any issues they hit and a space to empower our community who may be more comfortable with one-on-one conversations. Since our release, our community made it clear they prefer to provide feedback in other social spaces like Answers, Reddit, and here on our Insider forum – if they weren’t already using our in-app feedback tool, that is. Based on community feedback from both surveys, we are transitioning our private support space over to our public forums. Publicly providing answers to the community enables others to easily find the answers they are looking for, as well as allows the community to collaboratively figure out and share answers.

Starting next week, you will no longer be able to submit a ticket to our Insider support for assistance. For those of you who used our Insider ticketed support in the past, we encourage you to make our Tech Community forum your new home for feedback and bug reporting. Our team is around to answer posts and report feedback to the right people. Having frustrations with the Stable channel? Our Answers forum is the best place to post your feedback, and where the volunteer moderators there can escalate issues back to our team if there should be an investigation.

Along with this change comes the addition of AutoModerator in the Edge subreddits. This is something I have been working on building in collaboration with my team and a few volunteer moderators since the Insider survey from February 2022. This will help those who post in our subreddits find quick tips to potentially resolve most issues, understand how to get us their device’s diagnostics for bugs, and discover some handy links for popular questions. It will then talk about how to flag one of us for more help. We believe that AutoModerator responding on new Bug and Feature Feedback posts will help the community get their answers faster.

I want to take this time to reiterate: we read every post that comes through our social channels and work hard to triage all of the feedback sent in through the browser directly. We may not respond to everyone, but please know that we are reviewing everything you all provide to us and sharing your feedback with the team frequently. We take swift action on bug reports so that the team is aware of potential issues before they spread further. We do understand that this creates the perception that we are not acting on your posts; we have active communities across all of the spaces we monitor, and we want to make sure the team gets those details as fast as possible, which may cause a delay in response.
