Filter sub-OKRs and sub-key results without hiding the main OKRs

I use Viva Goals to monitor goals and key results for team with multiple OKR- and key result owners. I have got three levels:

Main OKRs

   Sub OKRs

      Sub key results

The OKRs on level 1 and 2 applies for all the entire team, but the key results on level 3 are assigned to each of the team members/key result owners.

When a team member add the "owner" filter, to list his key results only, all the member's key results are listed without the OKR hierarchy / OKRs on level 1 and 2 showing. This happens because the OKRs on leven 1 and 2 are not assigned to the team member, which makes sense.

I thought that the solution would be to assign the OKRs on leven 1 and 2 to the team member, but when I do that, all team members's key results on level 3 are listed because they belong to a level 1 and 2 OKR that is assigned to the specific team member in the "owner" filter.

The same problem appears when assigning and filtering with teams and tags.

In other words, I want a list of one team member's key results, that also shows the level 1 and 2 OKRs that they belong to. Any suggestions how to make that happen?

Viva Goals Power BI Integration Errors

My organization has several key results with Power BI connections that have integration errors. These key results use integration connections and are connected to Power BI reports that are behaving as expected for other key results. Viva Goals gives me an error message that it could not find the file. The issue appears to happen randomly. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Project For the Web Connector - PWA?

Hi, I'm trying to connect the tasks from my initiatives automatically using the Project For the Web Connector.

Does anyone know if I can use the same connector to connect to my PWA (Project Web App) instance? At this time, some of our projects in my organization are managed via PWA.

So I wonder if there is an environment permission in PWA to be allowed to I can select in the connector? I can see all my projects from Project Online just fine, just the ones hosted in PWA are missing.

If there is another channel where I can ask this question or get support, please let me know.

Viva Goals - Reassigning Objectives & Key Results

Hi All,

I’m wondering if someone would be able to help with what seems like a Viva Goals glitch described below please?

It seems that when reassigning objectives or key results within Viva Goals, it seems to ‘hang onto’ the data from the older owner when creating filtered views.

E.G.1:

I reassigned objectives & key results what were initially assigned to OldUser1, to NewUser2. Yet, when I do a filter by owner OldUser1, which should be blank, it shows me NewUser2 newly assigned objectives

E.G.2:

Similarly, User3 has reassigned some of his objectives to others, yet when filtering for his objectives only, it brings up other objectives that are no longer related to User3. These also appear within his “My OKRs” view which clutters up his filtered view.

I’m guessing its something to do with cached data maybe but just guessing.

Would anyone know of a solution to this please?

Hi Viva Goals community,

I have a question related to closing and scoring OKRs.

When I go to close an Objective (blue bullseye icon) or Key Result (purple speedometer), I am given the option to adjust the score if desired. However, when I go to close an Initiative (green calendar), the Close dialogue box does not have the Score line that allows me to adjust the score - I am forced to take the score that is auto-calculated by Viva Goals.

1) Can people confirm that this is the case for them as well?

2) If this is indeed the case, can anyone from Microsoft or otherwise help me understand why the score adjustment feature is not available on Initiatives?
3) Is there any plan to change this for Initiatives in the future?

Thanks everyone!

Evan

Best practice for permanent KPI tracking in Viva Goals

Hello,

We adopted OKR and Viva Goals for annual and quartely objective tracking.

However, we would like to integrate our general/permanent KPIs into Viva Goals (KPIs that may or may not curently be tied to an OKR).

I saw the feature allowing a Key Result to be pinned to the KPI dashboard, not all my KPIs already exist as a Key Result, or maybe the Key Result is for a specific period (quartely) and the KPI is permanent/annuel. Also I need a view of my KPI for "all company" and the "pin to KPI" doesn't work for multi-teams views.

How is everyone managing company-wide, permanant KPI/scorecard ?

I tested creating an objective named "Permanent KPIs" within the root "company" team, and KPI under it as Key Results, but this feels/looks a bit weird.

I also tested setting the root "company" team as an additionnal owner of Key Results located elsewhere in Viva Goals, so they appear with the "company" view.

Any client using Viva Goals as Performance Management?

A client is interested in modernizing their performance management system, leading them to consider Viva Goals.

Their requirements, however, extend beyond standard goal alignment and team-level performance tracking. They are seeking a system that offers, Individual performance management (setting, modifying, and reviewing), Integration of career development, training, and compensation decisions based on performance data, Tracking of performance history at both individual and organizational levels etc,

Our assessment suggests that Viva Goals alone may not fully meet all these needs. We believe that a solution integrating Viva Goals with a total reward-driven performance management system could be more suitable.

We would greatly appreciate any insights or experiences you might have regarding similar implementations. Additionally, we are interested in discussing possible workarounds or integrations that could meet our client’s needs.

Viva Goals - Adding user to objective selects and adds different user

I have been trying to add a user as an owner to an OKR Objective or Key Result (same problem happening for both). However, when I try to add either of two particular users ("Data Test2" and "Data Test3"), it will instead add a user above them ("Data Test1"). If I try again, it will count up as if I'm adding more users until it hits its 10 user limit, but never adds the user I'm trying to add. If I click away and open the menu again, it will list only the 2 (the pre-existing and the erroneously added user "Data Test1").

I've searched and can't find other examples of this happening, so have no idea how to even troubleshoot this. There are no error messages; it truly just looks like a glitch. Happens for All Objectives, Key Results, and Initiatives. Only happens for two of Five users ("Data Test2" and "Data Test3"), but their settings are identical to "Data Test1". The "Data Test1" user can be added or removed normally to any Objective, Key Result, or Initiative.

Task performed on MS Surface Laptop Studio, Windows 11, Firefox browser.

I'm creating a sales objective with 4 KRs. I choose "number" as the metric because the currency I need (SAR) isn't available (thank you very much, Microsoft!). Anyway, the mode of update is automatic through Excel Online. The problem is, the progress of each KR is calculated as an achievement out of a total number without specifying the percentage of that achievement!

How can I get it to also display the percentage?

Changing annual Calendar

Hi!

I'm using Viva Goals. When defining Objectives/Key-Results, it makes you select the 'time periods'. When you click on the drop-down list, you just can select "Annual" (from Jan to Dec) or Quarters, and you cannot select other options.

In my case, the Fiscal Year of my company is from April to March, so my "annual" should be from April'24 to March'25 for instance. Additionally, we don't work with Quarters but with "Tertials" (4-months periods).

Does anyone know how to change it? I don't see any options nor settings to change so.

Thanks very much!!

Changed Planning year and lost our OKR's

Hey Everyone,

Trying to figure out a solution here. I have recently become the Viva Goals admin (we only have viva goals) at our organization. We are rolling out OKR's to manage objectives for management in IT.

On of the departments in IT was doing a POC with Viva Goals last year, and despite our actual planning year starting in April, they didn't realize that the planning year setting let you set it so they left it at January created custom time ranges for our planning year.

This year we decided to change the planning year setting for full roll out - so I went ahead and made this change. Unfortunately, when I made this change, we are now unable to find last year's OKR's. Can you offer any suggestions for how we might recover them? They're mostly closed out, but the group wants to do a retrospective next week.

KPI view not populating on team landing page

When I add a key result to KPI summary it is not surfacing in the KPI view. When I expand the KPI view it states 'If you have OKRs that are tracked by KPI or have added them to the KPI Summary, those KPIs will appear here'. It affects all users in my organisation therefore I am in the process of raising an incident. I wondered if anyone else was experiencing the same and if this is a known issue? Thanks.

Custom embed widget and power BI

Looking for help please......

I am unable to find specific detail around the custom embed dashboard widget online and want to know what links are supported. I am trying to link a Power BI dashboard but I get an error stating 'app.powerbi.com refused to connect'. Does Power BI need to be enabled as an integration for OKR check in updates to allow us to embed a link in a dashboard too? I would not have thought so as no direct linkage here. Or is there a different link we should use within Power BI for it to connect?
