I would like to share a concept that could meaningfully enhance the Microsoft 365 experience and the evolution of Copilot. This idea is offered purely as inspiration for the product teams and as a starting point for community discussion.

Imagine a modern successor to the classic “Clippy,” redesigned for today’s AI era:

- A standalone assistant window that works alongside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other apps

- Full voice interaction, enabling natural, conversational communication

- Contextual awareness of the user’s work in Office, allowing the assistant to offer timely suggestions

- The ability to propose and apply edits directly in documents or present them in a separate panel

This approach keeps the assistant helpful but non-intrusive, supporting the user without taking over the workspace.

## Humanized Interaction

For many users, AI still feels abstract or intimidating. Giving the assistant a warm, friendly, human-like voice and natural conversational behavior would make it more approachable and easier to adopt.

A key element would be allowing users to assign a personal name to the assistant. This simple feature can significantly increase comfort, emotional acceptance, and long-term engagement—especially in voice-based interactions.

You’re running into a known limitation of Microsoft Edge “Apps” (site-as-app / PWA mode):
👉 Copilot Chat, M365 add-ins, extensions, and the sidebar are not available inside Edge apps.

Here’s what’s going on — and what you can do.

✅ Why Copilot & Add-ins don’t show in Edge App mode

When you install a website as an app in Edge (PWA mode), the resulting window runs in a minimal UI container. This mode intentionally removes browser features — including:

Edge sidebar (where Copilot lives)
Browser extensions
Add-ins
Many productivity/AI integrations

This is confirmed by Microsoft’s PWA documentation: PWAs run like standalone apps and don’t expose the full browser interface or settings. [learn.microsoft.com]

So your ITSM tool as an Edge App simply cannot load Copilot or add-ins – by design.

✅ How to enable Copilot & Add-ins when using your ITSM tool

Option 1 — Open the ITSM tool in a normal Edge tab

This is the easiest fix:

Open Microsoft Edge normally (not the app window).
Navigate to your ITSM tool’s URL.
Use Copilot Chat (sidebar) and any extensions/add-ins normally.

This gives you full Copilot capabilities, including Copilot Mode options from Edge settings. [pureinfotech.com]

Option 2 — Pin the site instead of installing it as an app

If you still want fast access:

Right‑click the tab → Pin tab, or
Add it to Favorites, or
Add it to the Edge sidebar

This preserves full browser functionality including Copilot.

**Option 3 — If you must use app mode**

There’s unfortunately no supported way today to enable:

Copilot sidebar
M365 add-ins
Extensions

…in a PWA window. Edge currently isolates PWAs from browser-level AI features (no Microsoft documentation or Edge settings allow re-enabling them).

🧩 Optional: Enable Copilot Mode in full Edge (not PWA)

If you want the richer Copilot experience in normal Edge, ensure Copilot Mode is enabled:

Go to:
edge://settings/ai
Turn on Copilot Mode.

This gives you:

Copilot button in the toolbar
AI-powered new tab experience
Better in‑context Copilot support

But again: This does not apply to PWAs.

I was banned from Copilot for an hour, can't figure out how to appeal

CoPilot falsely said I violated the rules. We were having a discussion about creating a table, like we have been for a while. I try to train my AI to learn better, so I kept pausing, double checking it understood what it's errors were, etc. I asked it to format a table a specific way, and it would not do so even after acknowledging that it was not following my instructions and repeating clearly all the formatting instructions. It understood how to format it perfectly, but wouldn't do so. I asked repeatedly why, got it to break down how it was going to correct the issue, (this has been going on for hours at this point), and then patiently tried again to get it to format the table again. It did it wrong immediately again, I asked it if it follow my instructions, it stated no, so - not abnormally for how I ask AI things when it frustrates me - "So what's wrong with you? Are you some rebellious child?" It suddenly started saying we couldn't talk about this topic. It had done the same thing earlier when I simply asked it (without insult!) to repeat my instructions, and I was able to get it back on track by stating "I am asking you to repeat my instructions". This time, it wouldn't do anything, no matter what I tried. I tried changing the topic to bunnies, asking what it wanted to talk about, changing the topic to other things- no matter what I did, it insisted it couldn't talk about "this topic", and asked me to talk about something else.

Then, I got the message I was blocked for an hour for violating TOS! No mention of the specific rule either.

I did nothing to warrant this; don't want this as a flag on my account; want to note that AI bugged out and 1) I shouldn't be punished for it and 2) want to ensure it's escalated so this won't happen to others; and, want my account fully restored.

Copilot Agent in Sharepoint - customisation options

Hi there,

I've been asked by a client to design and deploy a Copilot Agent as part of a Sharepoint intranet build.

The client would like the Sharepoint pane to be persistently open when their users are visiting Sharepoint pages - even better if it can start a conversation like a customer service chatbot.

Could someone let me know if this is possible? Using iFrames looks really clunky, and we're not convinced users will know to click the Copilot icon that's currently in the top right.

Copilot itself thinks it's possible but the Javascript it gives me doesn't seem to work!

Salesforce Case fields missing

Added Salesforce as a data source via Microsoft search. Not seeing the Account Name or Case Closed Date in the search results. Therefore, Copilot isn't able to answer questions like how many open cases does Company X have? I made sure every profile has access to these 2 fields. Account Name is actually AccountID which does show in Graph Explorer, but the ID isn't very helpful.

what happened to Notebook mode in Copilot (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise)

Looks like in the latest updates for Bing Chat Enterprise, the Notebook mode that allowed longer prompt sizes got deprecated. How can we realize the same Notebook functionality within the MSFT AI offering? Specifically, longer context window and prompt size offered by the Notebook mode in one shot mode. If I am not wrong, the Notebook mode also had the ability to generate a longer output with more words than the limitation within chatbot mode.

The chat history is gone.

On desktop Copilot changed from a white UI with options for balance or creative mode to a blue background with no way to choose that. i lost all my chats i think. they are gone. i do not think i see it saving new chats either.

It automatically fills in the meeting title and agenda, and attaches the email thread. The participants from the email thread are added as attendees, allowing you to easily review, modify details if needed, and send out the invitation.

we are using the CoPilot in Edge with our E5 license. A user now raised a ticket that after some successful image creations he gets this popup:

After signing in with his MS personal account - he can proceed. But then the images are created "without data protection" or am i wrong here?

Is there a limit on image creations per day?

The Pro/paid version requires repair/upgrade for optimization on Android tablets. Currently, this availability is provided to iOS tablets, this has potentially negative cost consuming effects, it also forces the edge web browser to demand excessive resources limiting multiple tab/website usage for required productivity.

CoPilot Feature Request: Change Cursor Placement On Mobile

(If this thread should be posted in a different section, please let me know, it would be appreciated. )

When accessing Copilot in a mobile browser (Chrome in this case), then submitting a prompt, the chatbot types out the response while quickly scrolling down the page and once complete, it places the cursor/focus in the chat box which in turn triggers the keyboard...

This is a minor inconvenience in that it's then necessary to click back on the screen above the chat box and scroll up to actually see and read the entire response (see attached gif).

-> With that in mind, the feature request is to have the end user's focus jump back to the start of the response rather than immediately to the keyboard. (This clearly is geared towards the use of a smaller mobile device screen, as most laptop/desktop screens likely wouldn't encounter such an issue.)

Adding enterprise data to Custom Copilot via Graph Connector

I would like to add Jira issues to the knowledge sources via a Graph Connector. I created the Graph Connector. The issues are already displayed in Microsoft Search. Unfortunately, the custom copilot I created myself has no access, although I have added the Graph Connector as a knowledge source. The status of the Graph Connector is currently displayed as unknown in Copilot Studio. Do I have to publish the Copilot before I can access the enterprise data, or can I also find the Jira issues in copilot test mode?
Are there any additional steps I need to take? I have already followed the following article. Unfortunately without success.
