Today, Cisco announced two new collaboration devices – the Cisco Desk Pro G2 and the Cisco Room Kit Pro G2, the industry’s first large room integrator system, accelerated by NVIDIA and built on MDEP. MAXHUB’s momentum with MDEP demonstrates how global partners can be enabled to build reliable, scalable devices for today’s collaboration needs.

At ISE 2026, MAXHUB will unveil the V50 video bar kit with console optimized for small to medium-sized rooms, and the V70 video bar kit with console, featuring the industry-first MAXHUB Quad Sight lens and 16 beamforming microphones with advanced AI audio and video capabilities.

Neat brings its human‑centric, purpose‑built design approach to new MDEP‑powered devices. By leveraging MDEP’s secure operations and simplified lifecycle management, Neat enables design‑driven innovation for today’s shared spaces and emerging use cases. The 10" Neat Pad Pro is Neat’s most capable meeting room controller and scheduling display to date is designed to give teams effortless command and IT total confidence. With its large 10-inch touchscreen, built-in microphones, and intelligent processing, it makes meetings easier to book, start, and manage while improving accessibility and engagement. Yealink continues to advance its enterprise phone portfolio with the MP55 E2 Teams Phone, the first MDEP powered device built on AOSP 15. The MP55 E2 is positioned to target vertical markets, with a focus on common areas, front desks, and other demanding scenarios. Built on Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform, the MP55 E2 combines Yealink’s proven device design with a modern, enterprise-ready platform. This milestone highlights how MDEP enables partners like Yealink to adopt the latest Android innovations while maintaining the reliability and operational standards enterprises expect from desk phone deployments. Looking ahead, Yealink and MDEP are expanding into mobile scenarios with the Teams Wi-Fi Handset MP66W coming later this year.

AudioCodes expands its enterprise device lineup with its first MDEP‑based phone, the TAA‑compliant C456HD, offering a trusted foundation for procurement and compliance‑sensitive deployments. With its enhanced security and safety features (including a dedicated emergency call button), the C456HD is ideal for deployment in education and government settings, with an optional touch-screen expansion unit to boost productivity.

Security: An Uncompromising Foundation

As partners build increasingly sophisticated solutions on the MDEP platform, the foundation beneath those devices becomes even more important - and that foundation is security.

From the earliest days of MDEP, we made a deliberate choice: security would not be an add‑on, it would be the foundation. Every architectural decision has been shaped by Microsoft’s uncompromising approach to employing zero trust principles, protecting customers, partners, and the broader ecosystem.

Our journey began with hardware‑rooted trust, a cornerstone of zero trust security architecture. Using hardware attestation backed by Microsoft PKI, the MDEP platform established a verifiable chain of trust from silicon to cloud, ensuring every device identity is cryptographically anchored and tamper‑resistant. This aligns the MDEP platform with the same rigorous standards used across Microsoft’s first‑party devices.

On top of that foundation sits Secure Future Initiative (SFI) - Microsoft’s battle‑tested security engineering framework for protecting the software development and delivery through reproducible builds, encrypted signing paths, and hardened workflows.

These investments have paid off: The Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform is now GCC, GCC High, and DoD compliant, meeting some of the most demanding security standards in the industry. And we’re not done: We are actively working toward FIPS validation, ensuring our cryptographic modules meet the requirements of the U.S. federal systems.

Security isn’t a chapter in our story - it’s the throughline. As MDEP grows, our focus remains the same: Deliver the most secure, trustworthy, and resilient platform possible for our partners and the customers we serve together.

Continuing to Scale Our Enterprise Solutions

Beyond collaboration and shared spaces, we’re expanding MDEP into additional enterprise scenarios where scale, uptime, and long‑term manageability are critical.

We’re partnering with IAdea, a leader in signage players and displays, to pilot the Microsoft Device Ecosystem platform in digital signage and assess how our predictable lifecycle management, consistent operations, and secure deployments can strengthen signage environments. This collaboration follows a six‑month pilot program with IAdea, and at ISE they will showcase preview MDEP‑based signage devices and solutions that highlight what next‑generation enterprise signage can look like.

We are also engaging with additional hardware developers and manufacturers, including Lango Tech, as we explore new form factors that will further expand the MDEP ecosystem.

MDEP’s mission is to deliver a seamless, enterprise‑ready software platform that offers native integration with Microsoft services and AI capabilities. As we scale, we’re adding new devices and expanding our partner ecosystem to support a wider variety of use cases. This growth strengthens our ability to provide partners with flexible, future-proof solutions that meet the diverse needs of businesses around the world. In this post, we’re excited to announce several new devices and partners that are joining the MDEP ecosystem, as well as highlight the upcoming MDEP 2025.2 release and the future road ahead.

New Devices from Barco, MAXHUB, Yealink, and Jabra

We’re excited to celebrate the next stage of growth in the MDEP ecosystem with Barco and MAXHUB now shipping devices built on MDEP for the first time. This milestone highlights the continued expansion and strength of our platform as we partner with industry leaders to bring cutting-edge solutions to the market.

Barco announced the availability of the ClickShare Hub Pro and the ClickShare Hub Core earlier this month. ClickShare Hub is a modular video conferencing room system for enhanced, effortless hybrid meetings. The ClickShare Hub includes a Base Unit, Control Panel, and 1 or 2 ClickShare Buttons. It is available in two models, both powered by MDEP.

The MAXHUB XBar V50 is a Teams-certified videobar built on MDEP, designed for small to medium rooms. It features 100MP dual-lens camera system, 12 beamforming microphones, AI-enhanced audio, and FlexMount for easy installation - delivering secure Teams integration, remote management, and simplified IT deployment.

Yealink, a long-standing MDEP partner, continues to innovate with its range of devices. Already shipping the VideoBar A40, the CTP25 Touch Console, and the new MP5X E2 series of phones, Yealink has now added the VideoBar A50 to their portfolio, offering an all-in-one video collaboration solution for hybrid workplaces.

Built on Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform, the Jabra PanaCast 40 VBS arrives this August, delivering small meeting spaces the same next-generation AI capabilities and 180° panoramic coverage that the PanaCast 50 VBS offers for medium rooms.

Introducing MDEP 2025.2 based on Android 15

Our upcoming release, MDEP 2025.2, represents a major milestone in the Microsoft Teams Ecosystem as it introduces the first Android 15 OS. This update brings significant security enhancements aimed at reinforcing platform integrity and protecting user data.

One of the key features of this update is the advanced key management for end-to-end encryption, ensuring that our data remains secure. Additionally, permission checks on content URIs are included to further safeguard sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access. Collectively, these enhancements elevate the security baseline for Android deployments, including further hardening of the OS against potential attacks.

Looking ahead, MDEP will introduce the Android Virtualization Framework (AVF) on eligible hardware, allowing secure and isolated execution environments. This feature is ideal for enterprise use cases such as protected workloads and sandboxed services. We have also tightened restrictions on Dynamic Code Loading and refined SELinux policies for stricter app isolation. Engineered with the Microsoft Secure Future Initiative (SFI) at its core, MDEP is uniquely positioned to integrate these features into a cohesive platform with Microsoft security services layered on top. This includes remote attestation pipelines, enterprise compliance tooling, and secure provisioning.

Unlike other AOSP-based variants, MDEP can leverage first-party integration with Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint, and Azure AD. More enhancements

We're introducing an advanced Zero-trust platform approach, which will elevate security by continuously verifying every request, action, and device. This will ensure a robust and secure environment for all our users.

Integration with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is another key feature, aimed at providing comprehensive protection against emerging threats. This integration will offer real-time security insights and incident response capabilities, giving us a strong defense against potential security issues.

For devices powered by Rockchip SoCs, we are simplifying the deployment process with frictionless provisioning of certificates. This will streamline the setup and make it more efficient.

Device deployment is getting a significant upgrade with Zero Touch Enrollment and autologin for Teams, making the user experience seamless, especially in hybrid work environments.

Our commitment to accessibility is also reflected in the enhanced support for STT models, ensuring smooth installation and updates. Additionally, Remote Access for Microsoft Teams will enable support staff to securely troubleshoot hardware and software configuration issues.

The Partner Agent will introduce app rollback capabilities, allowing admins to revert to a previous version of the Microsoft Teams app if needed. This feature will provide greater flexibility and control over app management.

We're boosting MDEP’s networking capabilities with 802.1X authentication support, further strengthening our security measures.

To achieve Windows parity and deliver consistent cross-platform experiences, we're adding multiple USB camera support and a Virtual touch console. This IP-based solution will enable seamless device interaction, and MDEP will support a wide range of multiple console display hardware configurations, making it easier to customize deployments.

Lastly, our focus on AI continues with features like on-device translated live captions and an AI Model-Agnostic MDEP AI Runtime, which supports ONNX. These innovations will bring advanced AI capabilities to our platform, enhancing user experience and productivity.

Digital Signage and displays

As partners have reached out to us asking to expand our support for interactive and non-interactive display solutions, MDEP is exploring how to best meet this demand by offering a secure, scalable platform designed to streamline the management and deployment of digital signage. With an initial preview release, we’re collaborating with IAdea, AppSpace, and Planon to refine this offering, setting the stage for a future-ready solution tailored for enterprise-grade digital signage.

Balancing Innovation and Stability

Alongside our Android 15 updates, we are launching the first MDEP Long-term Servicing Branch (LTSB), based on MDEP 2025.1, our latest and last platform update based on Android 13. The LTSB provides a stable and reliable foundation for OEMs, offering ongoing security updates, critical fixes, and minimal feature changes.

This ensures a consistent and predictable environment for enterprise deployments over an extended lifecycle, making it ideal for customers who prioritize stability, reliability, and long-term support. OEMs can choose the LTSB for its guaranteed stability and long-term security or opt for the Android 15 branch to access the latest features and innovations.

Additional SoCs

As part of our continued efforts to support a broad range of devices, we will be introducing support for new SoCs. Working closely with our silicon partners, these additions will further extend MDEP’s compatibility and enhance performance across the platform.

Qualcomm: We’re adding support for Qualcomm’s SM6115 and QCS5430, addressing our partners’ need for powerful, efficient SoCs that enable high-performance enterprise devices with optimized connectivity and AI capabilities.

Rockchip: We’re adding support for the RK3566, PX30, and RK3588, providing our partners with a robust range of SoCs for applications requiring scalable, cost-effective solutions in sectors such as education, retail, and industrial environments. These additions will offer enhanced multimedia support and powerful processing capabilities for diverse use cases.

MediaTek: We’re adding support for the MediaTek Genio 720, Genio 520, and MT8186, further extending MDEP’s reach in AI and edge processing. With these new MediaTek SoCs, our partners will have access to advanced processing power and energy efficiency, ideal for next-generation IoT, smart devices and collaborative solutions.

The announcement last year marked the first step in building a community of innovation and collaboration around MDEP. Since then, we have transformed the way device manufacturers and developers build, deploy, and manage connected experiences by unlocking new opportunities for innovation, security, and seamless integration. Over the past year, MDEP has made significant strides—delivering a consistent stream of new features, expanding our community with more device manufacturers and software developers, and receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from businesses worldwide.

Continuous enhancements through frequent updates

Since our initial release, we have gained momentum through regular feature updates to meet the needs of our device partners and enterprise customers.

We started off by building a secure foundation for meeting room devices using hardware-based attestation with Microsoft Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and secure pairing between devices. We also developed a suite of flexible core services like Microsoft text-to-speech for accessibility, as the building blocks for partner innovation. Additionally, we collaborated with our silicon partners in ensuring PKI provisioning and hardware attestation are available across chipsets through modular software assets.

The MDEP 2024.3 release continued our investments into security, along with improved developer tools and customization options, as well as an expansion to additional device categories like Microsoft Teams Panels and room scheduling displays. Key updates included the app integrity service, a feature that bridges cloud and device security—allowing cloud services to trust devices with confidence. The release also strengthened security through SoC Secure Enclave Abstraction, phased out TLS 1.0/1.1 in favor of newer versions, setting the stage for future advancements in connected device experiences.

The MDEP 2024.4 release introduced comprehensive support for IP phones, including touchscreen and non-touchscreen models, as well as SideCar accessory modules. It also expanded hardware compatibility for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android built around a central unit, as an alternative to systems based on two paired Android devices. Additionally, the release enabled frictionless certificate provisioning on supported Qualcomm SoCs, added support for the Qualcomm QCS6490 chipset, and integrated Microsoft's Fluent 2 Design System for a cohesive and customizable UI. Key accessibility enhancements, such as flexible narrator audio output and improved UI navigation, ensured a more inclusive user experience.

MDEP 2025.1

Today, we're excited to announce MDEP 2025.1, our first release of the year, packed with 20+ enhancements in device connectivity, pairing, hardware configurability, accessibility, and more —all driven by partner feedback. To name a few, MDEP will now offer native support for devices that can operate either as a touch console in a meeting room, or as a scheduling panel outside the room. MDEP will dynamically scale the DPI (dots-per-inch) of connected displays based on their native resolution. This release introduces full support for Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) over LAN and improves our secure pairing service to handle devices running different versions of MDEP, especially in update scenarios, while also offering greater granularity in establishing connections using specific network interfaces in stricter enterprise environments. We remain committed to building a truly inclusive platform with the addition of a screen magnification feature in our Microsoft accessibility suite. On the silicon front, we're expanding frictionless certificate provisioning to supported MediaTek SoCs, now including the Genio 510.

One of the highlights of this release is the comprehensive support for IP phones and compatibility with meeting room systems based on a centralized architecture. The MDEP 2024.4 release also packs improved accessibility features, ensuring that all users can effectively utilize our platform.

IP phones: Expanding device capabilities

The MDEP 2024.4 release introduces support for a wide range of IP phones, including:

Touchscreen phones: Devices equipped with touch displays of various sizes and aspect ratios.
Non-touchscreen phones: High-volume models with physical buttons for navigation and actions.
SideCar support: Accessory modules attached to Teams phones, which extend functionality through extra programmable buttons, providing quick access to features such as speed dialing and call transfers.

What’s new in Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP) 2024.3 Release

The Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP) continues its forward momentum with the release of MDEP 2024.3, bringing a suite of powerful new tools and enhancements designed for OEMs and third-party developers. This latest update introduces advanced security features, improved API functionalities, and expanded customization options, all aimed at streamlining device management, improving integration, and ensuring a secure, seamless user experience across diverse hardware configurations and form factors.

MDEP Configuration API

The MDEP Configuration API acts as a centralized interface that simplifies the interaction between partner services and the platform. OEMs can now manage essential features like device pairing, synchronization, administrative sessions, and device settings updates with greater ease. The API is designed to abstract the complexity of each system, making runtime device management simpler and more efficient. This extensible tool is available through the Microsoft SDK, providing easy integration for OEMs and developers.

MDEP Public API SDK

The MDEP Public SDK is a game-changer for developers, offering tools and libraries to simplify app development and integration with the MDEP platform. It allows for the separation of apps from internal platform services and provides a user-friendly environment for OEMs and third-party partners, including VaaS providers. The SDK includes public APIs, an Android Studio plugin, and comprehensive documentation within the IDE, enabling functions like enabling/disabling Wi-Fi/Ethernet, rebooting, and using stress tools for virtual devices.

App Integrity Service

Security is paramount in MDEP, and the App Integrity Service takes this focus to the next level. This service enables apps to securely share tokens with clients, including cloud services, to verify application and device identity. With a cloud component and reference implementation, the App Integrity Service offers a robust solution for maintaining app security and protecting sensitive data.

SOC Secure Enclave Abstraction

The SOC Secure Enclave Abstraction enhances security by scaling hardware attestation, zero trust, and other key security features across all silicon platforms. This ensures a consistent level of protection across devices, regardless of hardware configuration, safeguarding against unauthorized access and data breaches.

Deprecation of TLS 1.0/1.1

With the retirement of TLS 1.0 and 1.1, MDEP has implemented crucial design changes and a support plan to facilitate a smooth transition to newer TLS versions. This update is essential for maintaining secure communication channels, as newer TLS versions provide enhanced security protocols.

Teams Panels & Room Scheduling Support

MDEP now extends its support to Microsoft Teams Panels and room scheduling displays, offering the same level of security and customization as other MDEP-powered devices. This update ensures a seamless, secure experience for meeting room scheduling and management.

Enhanced Systems App Customization

Customization is key, and MDEP 2024.3 introduces a new system-wide Light Theme mode. This expanded customization option gives OEMs more flexibility in designing their user interfaces while ensuring consistency across devices, providing a cohesive look and feel for users.

IP Phones – Partner Preview

Partners can now preview the baseline functionality for Teams Phones and IP phones. This early release allows for exploration and integration into new devices, providing an exciting glimpse into the future of connected device experiences.

Enterprise & Government-Grade Networking: EAP Over LAN – Partner Preview

MDEP introduces enterprise and government-grade networking capabilities with built-in support for Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) over LAN. Available through the Configuration API and SDK, this feature meets the stringent security requirements of enterprise and government environments, ensuring robust and secure networking.

Expanding Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP) support to new devices and form factors

Earlier this year at Enterprise Connect, we announced new silicon and OEM partnerships for meeting room devices built on the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP). Since then, we have collaborated closely with our partners to make MDEP more widely available.

Today, we are excited to announce that MDEP now provides native support for Microsoft Teams Desk Phones and Microsoft Teams Panels. This expansion, achieved through close collaboration with Microsoft Teams, enables our device partners to rapidly adopt MDEP across the breadth of Teams' Android-based devices.

We are happy to share that our partner Yealink, a global leader in unified communication and collaboration solutions, has announced they are set to release their first series of Teams Desk Phones built on Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform later this year. On the same day, Yealink also introduced their all-in-one dual-camera video bar, the new MeetingBar A40, accompanied by the CTP25 Touch Panel – both built on MDEP and slated for release later this year.

New partnerships

We are proud to announce a new partnership with Barco, a global leader in innovative visualization and collaboration solutions. Juha Kuosmanen, Head of MDEP at Microsoft, expressed our shared vision: "Microsoft and Barco share a common emphasis on designing solutions with enhanced privacy, accessibility, and manageability excellence. We are thrilled to welcome Barco to the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform and confident that its future developments will be a catalyst for their continuous success".
Barco plans to leverage MDEP for its next-generation ClickShare solutions, enhancing their unique user experience. Jan van Houtte, EVP Meeting Experience at Barco, emphasized their commitment: "ClickShare remains focused on bringing a simple, premium experience to meeting spaces. We will continue to create innovative experiences, leveraging Microsoft’s expertise in security, manageability, and AI capabilities".

Doubling down on security

We designed MDEP with a focus on security, reliability, and enhanced manageability. This year, we are increasing our investment in security to align with Microsoft's Security Future Initiative (SFI). Collaborating with device manufacturers, we are launching a suite of security features in 2024 to protect device integrity and user data throughout the device's lifecycle.

Application integrity: bridging cloud and device security
MDEP’s Device Attestation feature enables applications to verify the security state of the device before enabling any services. Leveraging Microsoft’s PKI and certificate chain, this framework establishes a baseline of trust. To address potential threats, we introduce Application Integrity, securely including package information (ID and signature) backed by hardware attestation, allowing cloud services to trust the device confidently.
MDEP provides a platform API for apps and services to leverage this integrity layer, with OEMs now able to utilize Microsoft Azure Attestation services to validate the secure state of the device.

Secure monitoring
MDEP addresses the need for continuous monitoring through a secure monitoring service. This agent constantly assesses the device’s security posture, detects threats, and reports incidents. In extreme cases, the service can trigger a lockdown mode to protect both device and data.
MDEP offers APIs that MDM agents can utilize, empowering IT administrators.

Silicon diversity and frictionless provisioning
MDEP now supports PKI provisioning and hardware attestation across a range of silicon vendors, including Qualcomm, MTK, Rockchip, and NXP. Our modular software assets allow seamless portability to any OEM’s custom TrustZone architecture, reducing integration friction for Microsoft PKI adoption. To expedite time-to-market, we are developing sample Trusted Applications (TAs) that enable OEMs to maintain robust security standards.

Announcing the RTM of Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP)

Last year, along with our launch partner Jabra, we announced the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP).

MDEP is our Android-based platform designed to enable device manufacturers and software developers to deliver innovative solutions, backed by Microsoft's reputation for security, trust, and management. Today, at Enterprise Connect 2024, We are excited to announce that it has released to manufacturers. Several device makers are making plans for new Android 13 devices built on MDEP as well updates for their in-market Teams certified devices coming early this summer.

The first MDEP-based device, the Jabra PanaCast 50 Video Bar System, will be available for select customers by the end of May 2024 via an in-market update. Interested customers can contact Jabra here.

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a global leader in on-device AI, connectivity, high-performance, and low-power compute, is powering the Jabra device and has enabled MDEP with TrustZone on the Qualcomm® QCS8250 Processor.

Additionally, we are announcing a new strategic partnership with Yealink, a global leading provider of Teams-certified collaboration devices. Yealink will bring MDEP to their diverse portfolio of devices for Teams Rooms on Android, Teams Phone, and Teams Panels later this year. They will share their MDEP plans in their booth at Enterprise Connect.

We are also expanding our silicon platform support to include System on Chip (SoCs) from MediaTek and Rockchip.

MediaTek, a global leading fabless semiconductor, is adopting MDEP for existing and future SoCs beginning with two chipsets. The MT8195 delivers fantastic imaging, reliability, and low video pipeline latency.

The upcoming MT8196 SoC will fully support MDEP in premium devices, offering generative AI capabilities on the edge for better privacy.

Rockchip, a leading provider of SoC products for tablets & PCs, streaming media TV boxes, AI audio & vision, and IoT hardware, will partner with Microsoft to deliver better experiences on Android devices.

This initial platform release is focused on providing Teams Rooms on Android devices with enhanced security, device pairing, accessibility, and management capabilities which are of critical importance to business and government customers of all sizes.

MDEP introduces Hardware-based attestation with Microsoft Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and Microsoft Secure Pairing. Combined with core Android security features, this means that organizations can now strengthen their security posture and detect if a device has been compromised, even at its deepest components. MDEP’s hardware attestation status will soon be visible in Intune and support conditional access to enable organizations to implement zero-trust principles and practices.

In the coming months, customers can expect additional announcements from device partners updating current devices and delivering new products on this platform that delivers consistency, security, and manageability and enables device manufacturers to innovate and customize.
