Prepare for SOAP API deprecation by moving to REST

Microsoft Advertising is evolving its API platform to better meet modern developer needs. As part of this shift, we’re transitioning from the SOAP API to a REST-based architecture that offers improved performance, flexibility, and ease of use.

If you’re currently using the SOAP API, now is the time to start planning your migration.

What’s changing

We’re standardizing on REST APIs as the foundation for all future Microsoft Advertising API development.

Beginning October 1, 2026, new API features and enhancements will be available only through the REST API.

The SOAP API will be fully deprecated on January 31, 2027.

During the transition period, your existing SOAP integrations will continue to run without interruption. This gives you time to plan, test, and complete your migration.

If you have a complex or large-scale integration and need additional time, contact your account team or Microsoft Advertising support to discuss an extended migration plan.

Why move to the REST API

The REST API provides a more modern and efficient integration experience:

Access to new features and ongoing enhancements

HTTP/JSON architecture aligned with industry standards

Simpler integration and debugging

Support across a wide range of programming languages

Smaller message sizes with HTTP compression, reducing latency and traffic

How to get started

The best migration approach depends on how you’re currently integrated.

If you use an SDK

Start with the SDK migration guide to move from SOAP to REST while staying aligned with future updates.

If you call the SOAP API directly

Update your implementation to use REST endpoints and request formats. You can find endpoint details and request examples in the API reference documentation.

Not using an SDK today? This is a good opportunity to adopt one. SDKs simplify migration now and make future updates easier.

Plan your migration now

While there’s no immediate impact to existing SOAP integrations, key milestones are approaching quickly:

October 1, 2026 → New features become REST-only

January 31, 2027 → SOAP API is fully deprecated

Starting early will help ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted access to the latest capabilities.

We appreciate your partnership and are committed to supporting you through this transition. The REST API unlocks new possibilities, and we’re excited to help you take advantage of them.

New dual-ID requirement for account linking APIs

We’re introducing an important security update to Microsoft Advertising account linking APIs to better protect customer accounts and prevent unauthorized access.

This change applies only to new linking requests. Existing links and pending requests aren't affected.

What’s changing

To create or accept an account linking request, you must now provide two identifiers instead of one:

For manager account linking (CID):

Manager account number (alphanumeric)

Manager account ID (numeric)

For account linking (XID):

Manager account number (alphanumeric)

Account number (alphanumeric)

Why this change matters

We’ve strengthened the account linking process to reduce the risk of unauthorized access and fraud.

Previously, linking could be initiated using a single identifier, which increased exposure to brute-force attempts. The new dual-ID requirement helps:

Improve overall account security.

Block most fraudulent linking attempts.

Maintain a high success rate for legitimate use cases.

What you need to do

Update your integration to ensure:

Both required identifiers are included in all linking API calls.

Values are validated to match the correct target account.

Your workflows handle errors for missing or mismatched IDs.

Timeline

Enforcement begins August 26, 2026, and will roll out gradually.

To avoid disruption:

Update your API calls to include both identifiers before August 26, 2026.

After enforcement begins, any new linking requests that do not include both IDs will be rejected.

Support

We recommend prioritizing these updates early to avoid disruption to your workflows.

If you have questions or need assistance, contact your Microsoft Advertising account team or reach out to Microsoft Advertising support.

Reconsideration request for selfmanager.ai - migration and indexing issues

Hello Bing Support,

I am requesting a reconsideration of the domain selfmanager.ai following a domain migration from self-manager.net. Although pages are crawled and appear indexed in Site Explorer, the site is not being served in search results and impressions are effectively zero.

Actions taken before this appeal:

Implemented 301 redirects from old domain to selfmanager.ai

Ensured all canonical tags point to selfmanager.ai

Removed any noindex directives and confirmed no X-Robots-Tag headers

Submitted sitemap and used IndexNow to push updates

Verified Bingbot access in server logs; pages return 200 for crawls

Performed content quality audit and improved thin or duplicate pages

Site is indexed and receiving impressions on Google

Please review whether a manual action, domain canonicalization issue, or quality filter is suppressing serving for this domain. I can provide server logs, sitemap, example URLs, and screenshots on request.

Thank you for your assistance, Marian

Hello, I'm using this platform so Microsoft can respond to my request. I had a problem with my rewards account; I couldn't redeem my points, so I submitted a report. You replied that you would process the request and keep me updated. Instead, two days later, my rewards account was blocked. Now I've already looked into this on a forum and seen that there are problems with bots blocking accounts, and that many people have had to wait to be unblocked. I already had an account and waited a month without a response, so I ended up closing it. Now I'm stuck with another blocked account, so I don't understand. Please, can someone help me? I don't know what to do anymore. And the form isn't responding?

Hello Bing Webmaster Community,

I am hoping someone from the Bing team or the community can help me here, as I have been unable to get a response from support despite raising 3 tickets over the past 2 months.

Website: https://inevia.co/

Ticket Reference: REQ00199330 (raised 19 Jan 2026)

Ticket Reference: REQ00202838 (raised 4 Feb 2026)

Ticket Reference: REQ00209233 (raised 6 March 2026)

THE PROBLEM

My site was performing normally on Bing until late December 2025. Since then, impressions and clicks have dropped to near zero. The graph shows brief spikes in December and January, followed by a complete crash from February 2026 onwards. This cycling pattern suggests algorithmic suppression rather than a technical issue on my end.

WHAT I HAVE ALREADY DONE

- robots.txt verified - Bingbot not blocked

- No noindex tags on any pages

- Sitemap submitted and returning 200 status

- All key URLs manually re-submitted via URL Submission

- IndexNow enabled

- No security warnings or manual action flags in Webmaster Tools

- Fetch as Bingbot - pages render correctly

- URL Inspection checked - inner pages not recrawled since October 2025

WHAT I NEED HELP WITH

1. Has https://inevia.co/ been algorithmically suppressed or flagged?

2. Why have inner pages not been recrawled since October 2025?

3. What specific steps can I take to restore normal indexing?

Any help from the Bing team or community members who have faced a similar issue would be greatly appreciated. This has been going on for over 2 months and is seriously impacting our business.

Thank you.

400 Robux reward disappeared after my redemption was declined – anyone else?

Hi everyone, I’m really confused and frustrated right now. I spent about 5 months earning 6,750 Microsoft Rewards points and redeemed them for the 400 Robux digital code on March 2, 2026. The order was marked as “Declined,” and my points were returned. However, after that, the 400 Robux option completely disappeared from my rewards dashboard. Now only the 800 and 1000 Robux options are available. I earned all my points fairly and followed the program rules. The 400 Robux reward was available at the time I redeemed it, so I don’t understand why it was declined and then removed. Has this happened to anyone else? Does this usually mean it’s out of stock? Does it come back? Is there any way support can manually allow redemption? I’m just trying to redeem what I worked toward. Any advice would really help.

Bing just will not index our website

We’re experiencing a persistent indexing issue with Bing and would really appreciate any insights.

Problem:
Bing is not indexing the website at all. A site: search returns a single page located at crawl depth 2, but else, zero results. Even though the indexed URL report keeps rising in numbers and now shows 29 indexed URLs. The Site Explorer again shows different numbers and totals 48.

What we have already checked / done:

Entire site missing from Bing’s index

Submitted sitemap.xml via Bing Webmaster Tools

Used manual URL submission

Implemented IndexNow submissions

All pages return HTTP 200 (no 4xx/5xx errors)

No robots.txt blocking

No noindex tags present

Canonicals appear correct

Site is accessible and renders normally (also in URL inspection)

Server response verified (Apache, gzip enabled)

Additional context:
Google indexes the site without any issues. The problem seems isolated to Bing.

We’re trying to understand:

What could prevent Bing from indexing a fully accessible site?

Are there known Bing-specific pitfalls we might be missing?

Could host-level, caching, CDN, Wordfence security plugin (though it does not list blockages of bingbot) or header-related factors play a role?

Has anyone seen Bing completely ignore a domain like this?

Any ideas, similar experiences, or debugging suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Is it legal to use Bing Wallpaper on Linux, using tools available there, like Gnome plugin "Bing Wallpaper" and such? Would it be legal for Ubuntu to add it directly in the distro (not images, those are obviously copyrighted by Getty et al, just the tool that downloads it daily) ? I tried to figure this from terms of use, but it is really hard to understand what is actually allowed.

Is Digital Fatigue the New Productivity Killer?

As we move deeper into the era of remote and hybrid work, the physical toll of being "always on" is becoming harder to ignore. I’ve personally noticed that the constant glare of the screen is leading to more frequent eye strain, tension headaches, and a noticeable dip in focus by mid-afternoon.

To combat this, I’ve been experimenting with a few "digital hygiene" habits:

Structured Breaks: Stepping away from the desk entirely every 60 minutes.

Visual Ergonomics: Using blue light filters and optimizing my monitor's refresh rate.

Micro-Movements: Incorporating quick stretching routines to release neck and shoulder tension.

While these help, I’m still refining my routine. What are you doing to protect your energy and eyesight in this digital-heavy landscape? Are there specific tools or "analog" habits that have made a difference for you?

How Do You Stay Productive While Remote working?

Hey everyone! Working from home has become so common nowadays, but I have noticed it comes with its own set of challenges—distractions, staying organized, and maintaining focus. I’ve been experimenting with different tools, time-blocking techniques, and routines to stay productive, and it’s been a learning process. I am curious about what strategies, apps, or habits help you stay focused and get work done efficiently while working remotely? Let’s share tips and learn from each other!

FEATURE REQUEST: User-settable Favored AND Unfavored sources for search results

Google recently introduced Preferred Sources which allows people to see news results from sources they prefer more frequently.

I think this is a great idea, and it would be even better if users could specify preferred and un-preferred sources for all search results in general, not just news results. For example, when I search for "nodejs logging," almost the entire first page of results is from company blogs or tutorial websites whose perspective I don't really care about:

These sites are EVERYWHERE and I frequently find myself digging through many search results to find sources that I actually do want to hear from. There is no need for me to see five different company blog posts that look like paraphrasings of each other summarizing the "best practices for logging in nodejs" or similar. Maybe showing one of these posts from a source that I trust is appropriate, but after that, I'm interested in authentic community discussions (e.g., StackExchange, Reddit), RFC-type websites (not sure if these exist for Node.js, but things like Python's PEPs or Rust's RFCs, so very official, community-driven discussions), official documentation from the logging libraries themselves, and personal blog posts that go more in-depth into a real person's opinions about and experiences with logging. One way I could signal to Bing that this is what I want, is to set websites like StackExchange, Reddit, official documentation pages, personal blogs I like, etc. as "favored" sources, and set what I consider to be "slop" websites, like LogRocket, as "unfavored" sources.

Another example of the above, which I want to emphasize because it frequently comes up for me, is looking up references for functions in the Python standard library, for example, "python open()". The first page of results in this case come from realpython.com, w3schools.com, geeksforgeeks.org, programiz.com, and a bunch of videos for the remainder of the page. In my opinion, it is insane that we get every website except the official Python.org documentation for open(), which is actually what I'm looking for. I could rectify this by adding python.org as a preferred source.

A final example that frequently pops up for me is cooking. I often search questions like "how many cups are in a pound of sliced carrots," and invariably, I get search results from websites like these:

I can't prove it, but these websites look like they are LLM-generated to me. At any rate, I much prefer to hear it from a source like this, which looks more like an actual publication with an editorial team and humans vetting the information:

Since chefsresource.com comes up so frequently in my search results, and I always avoid looking at it, it would make sense for me to "blacklist" it by adding it as an unfavored source, so that almanac.com result is more likely to come up as a relevant result to me.

Google search seems to avoid all of these problems by default, and it behaves more the way I want for a search engine. Still, I think allowing users to tailor their own search results by specifying "favored" and "unfavored" sources would be a great differentiating feature for Bing search.

I wanted to buy "Roblox Digital Card—1000 Robux" which is for 16050 points but i had set my goal before its price was changed, earlier the price was 15000 points and with a 200 discount its price had reduced to 14800 points, but when i tried to redeem it says "Sorry you do not have enough points"

On clicking manage

On clicking redeem reward

Bing Webmaster Content Removal Tool not working; Raising support ticket also does not work

I have pages that were deleted by the website owner that contained personal information, yet the removed personal information still appears in Bing search results.

I tried to remove them using the content removal tool, but it claims: "The URL you submitted still works on the web and isn’t a broken link. You can only request an outdated cache removal for this page. Please enter a word that appears in the cached version of the page but no longer appears on the web page." When I enter any word that appears in the cached version, including unique personal information, I get the message: "The entered text does not appear in the Bing cached version of the page. Please enter a word that appears in the cached version of the page but no longer appears on the web page."

When you click on the offending Bing search result, it redirects to the website's home page, but the page showing in the personal information is gone.

I tried raising a support ticket, but whenever I go to submit the "Create support ticket" does absolutely nothing.

How can I get these outdated search results that contain my personal data off of Bing?

Microsoft Bing AI not Generating Images I search For

why am i getting a crossed out camera icon on every bing ai picture i search for? So I'll enter in a prompt, it will generate, I'll see the thumbnails for the 1,2,3, or 4 images created, but when I click on one it just generates a grey icon with the camera crossed out. It also happens to images on the bing ai front page too. Like the sample photos that show you other people's creations or whatever. For some reason images in collections still generate fine, stuff I've previously saved. I've tried everything, deleting cookies, caches, every option under internet history has been deleted, when I create new accounts the same things happens. I've downloaded the bing app, used bing on chrome, nothing is working. Tried using different phones so it's definitely not a phone issue.

Suspended account

I’ve maintained a Bing usage streak of more than 2,800 consecutive days, regularly engaging with trending news, dashboard offers, and manual searches. I have never used automated tools or performed searches outside of my own interests. Despite this, Bing has suspended me from redeeming points. The only response I’ve received is a generic copy of their policies. Does anyone know how I can get reinstated? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I recently have been signed out of two of my business Bing accounts. Upon signing in, I get a notification that says:

Every time I try logging in I get that notification. Even though it is only associated with the email I have. I ultimately decided to make another account and try to reclaim my business. However, when asking for permission to manage the account, it requires approval from the account I cannot get into. Does anyone have any guidance? It keeps sending me through a loop.
