There is another Winlogon event log that states: The shell stopped unexpectedly and explorer.exe was restarted.

I encountered the same error for windows 11 22000.71
Yes, I'm having the same issue and so is the other computer that has the Windows 11 Build 22000.71. It's a bug and should be resolved in the next update.

@shreymarwah

...i can also confirm the exact crash with the exact cause and effect.

@shreymarwah This is a known issues of this build and the fix is mentioned the insider blog
Announcing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.71 | Windows Insider Blog

  • There is an issue in this build where Explorer.exe will crash when the date and time button on the Taskbar is clicked to access new notifications with Focus Assist turned off. The workaround for this is to enable Focus assist to priority or alarms mode. Note that when focus assist is turned on, notification popups won’t appear, but they will be in the notification center when opened.
The workaround doesn't always stop the crashes, just tried it, and still happens
Also happening here. None of the focus assist modes help. It happens every second time I click the clock/calendar. First time opens fine, second time crashes. This is the case even if I wait hours in between the first and second clicks.

@dbranca the issue was fixed for me after changing the settings. I'm on build 22000.71. Below is how I set up it just in case.

gamunu_0-1626811032275.png

@gamunu Thank you. Priority Only does indeed work. When I changed to this setting before it crashed when I clicked the date/time again, but it must have already been 'charged' from a prior click. Every subsequent click now works properly; no explorer.exe crash.

...i can confirm this is a working workaround. Tested on a few installations.
this works like a charm, thanks. as @dbranca mentioned, it crashes once more after setting it and works well.
Focus assist mode didn't work for me, i have to open run using (WIN + R) and use the explorer command to restart the explorer everytime
I am using Win + N shortcut instead of clicking the date, and haven't encountered the issue.
