A new update for windows 11 came today. After downloading and installing it the wallpapers have changed to the windows 11 default wallpaper and more than half of the icons are missing including 'this pc'.
The taskbar is completely blank white.
Start and settings shortcuts are not working.
Please help, can't even open settings to roll back today's windows 11 update.
Kindly refer to the picture below.
System specs:
Intel i5 8th gen
8 GB RAM
1.6Ghz processor

Solution found problem solved:
Guys, my problem is solved. Go to the software download page of Microsoft and download the latest windows insider update for windows 11. Download the iso file, it is more than 5GBs, open it, run the setup file, in choose what to keep, choose to keep all the files and settings. So that, you don't loose anything. After the installation completes, my windows was just like it was before, all files and icons are back. There is no problem now.

You can also try to restart in safe mode and while restarting you can roll back the latest update. If you wish to ‘Go back to previous build’, I would suggest you to follow these steps.

In the sign in screen, hold the down the Shift key, while you select the Power button, and then select Restart.

After the PC restarts, click on Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Go back to previous build, follow the On screen instructions.

Although this doesn't work for me, but this worked for some people, as this takes less time, try this first. To come out of safe mode just restart again. Thank you guys.

Same issue here, after t he most recent update
I am also experiencing this issue.

The taskbar is blank, desktop icons are missing, cannot right click or access the start menu or the settings.

When I try to use the start button on the keyboard the screen just flashes and nothing happens.
Same problem here, when I started my computer now, I don't have taskbar, windows explorer not starting.. my PC became useless
I already tried to restart the comand "explorer.exe" but it only makes it worse... But I can Run programs from cmd and task manager... I hope win11-team fix this issu soon.

Same issue here, just appeared today, removing latest update didn't help, sfc didn't help. nothing helps

I was able to roll it back by opening Control Panel via the Task Manager (File > Open new task and type in “control”) and going to Review your computer’s status (under System and Security) > Recovery > Open System Restore and undoing the latest system update.

Alternatively, pressing ctrl+alt+del and shift+clicking on Restart will give you the option to run the system restore before restarting.

This doesn’t work for everyone it seems, but I hope it helps someone.

Guys, try to change the current date on your computer:

@fabiomagnoni I found a solution on Redit. Change the date to september 3th or 4th. You can do it through Task Manarger (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC), then run a new task, type control and hit enter. It worked for me.
