Not sure if this is the correct place for this. Sorry if anyone has trouble due to the large images.
The latest update seems to have introduced some kind of unmodifiable margin on the left and right edges of the homescreen. I've attached 3 screenshots, please ignore the differences in the icon layouts, or the discrepancy between the medium/large icon settings - I was trying to see if toggling it would revert to the "old" way of displaying it.
Microsoft Launcher used to have uniform spacing between icons, save for the margins. Now it truly has uniform spacing between icon columns, and it's horrible.
The distance between the edge of the screen and the first (or last) column of icons used to be significantly smaller than the spacing between each individual column. This was nice. I don't need padding to avoid the edge of my screen, but it's appreciated between icon columns. Instead, now we have a margin on the left and right sides of the home screen, and icons that are squashed together in comparison. It blows. Even shrinking down to the smallest icon size leaves me with columns that are effectively narrower than they were before.
I'm not really missing the old slider for icon sizes, as I had it set to the largest anyways, and I don't seem to have run into any of the issues others are having where the icon size selection is completely non-responsive. It works, I can pick between small, medium, and large, but the margins on the sides never go away. Simply put, it looks like an iPhone's home screen. If I wanted one, I'd be using one. It also appears to affect widgets as well.
Please change it back, or at least give us some control over it.

Forgot these details if they're helpful and this is in fact an isolated issue:

@Chef31684in that case, here is the fix for anyone who is having the same issue.
I understand some degree of testing must have taken place to make sure it was the right amount of margin added for usability on Galaxy devices? Here are screenshots of a Galaxy S9, taken from a launch day review:
Note that the app drawer is 5x6, even with all that extra vertical space, compared to the 5x7 I was using before - 5x8 if you include the "dock".

@Chef31684here is a quick, scaled comparison, with the Galaxy's stock margins in the drawer, vs. 5.2, and 5.3 - I think it's a bit silly, don't you? To my knowledge, the GS9 doesn't do any kind of hardware scaling for the curve on the screen, so this screenshot should be fairly representative.
If the default GS9 behavior had suddenly been implemented when 5.3 launched, it may not have been as abrasive. For whatever reason, Launcher now just displays at lower DPI, or with smaller "Large" icons, or what have you. The "fix" is so drastic it outdoes Samsung's own design for their own screens. I didn't modify the screenshot at all, both phones have a 1440 width which made it easy enough to do in GIMP.
If controlling the size of the margin is too much to ask for, a toggle for "Edge Friendliness" (RIP Trident/EdgeHTML) would be nice. Have it switch between the old and new behavior.

@Chef31684 For what it's worth, the effect doesn't look as drastic on your screen, probably because of the higher density of icons overall.

The green one? ProtonVPN.
I had to use ProtonMail for HIPAA reasons and decided to sign up for the paid version of that. They had a deal around Thanksgiving time that basically made getting one get you the other for free. I only really use it on public Wi-Fi, but it's been solid on my computers. Good stuff. There's a free version if you want to try it out.

Here is my info:
Hi there to all and specially @booddude, I feel your pain, i have been a Microsoft Launcher BETA user since the beginning, and this messing of the icons made me go back to 5.2 as they are very small for me to use!
I have a Xiaomi Mi 8 with a 6x6 setting with the bigger icons, and it was great because i could fully use the big screen of my device but now icons are too small because of the margin between them and i can't use the launcher like this (previously i had a Mi 5 with a smaller screen and 5x5 setting).
So just let me report what i find wrong on this release that needs fixing:
The icon margin is really bad and it makes the icons really small. I understand some users want a bigger margin on the sides, but a bigger margin between the icons is a no go. Also many devices, like the one i have, have a fuller screen with reduced margins - whats the point of this if i can't use the "fuller" screen it has? I don't know how to fix this, maybe an option to fully use the icon size or to have margins?
3 options for icon and font size is not enough - a slider is better because it provides more options
I prefer Microsoft / Windows fonts rather than Android ones. However this can also be fixed if we could choose the font. And if this new font is to make it similar to Android, MIUI also doesn't use the Android font
Finally i added some images of what i'm reporting so the team can see it. ML 5.2 6x6 icons are roughly the same size as ML 5.3 7x7 icons, but ML 5.3 has lots of margins between them!
