Integrated Camera of Laptop Lenovo T450 Turns On and Off

Occasional Visitor

Hello,

I have a Lenovo 450 laptop with me and from the past few days, I have started experiencing the problem. The camera was not showing any picture. Therefore, I have checked the hardware and found no issue in the hardware. I have rebooted my laptop with the help of Linux OS using a USB pen drive and under Linux camera worked properly.

Therefore, I have checked the answers.microsoft.com site and found the following solution.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/integrated-camera-turns-on-then-off/ec49b1c4-4...

This solution proposed to refer the LENOVO solution, in which it is asking to implement the following steps.

  1. Start Regedit.exe and go to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform
  2. Create a REG_DWORD value named EnableFrameServerMode and leave the default value (0).
  3. Do the same for the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform

This information copied from the following link.

I have tried implementing the above-mentioned solution and found out that when I implemented both the steps; i.e. implementation of register value in step number 1 and step number 3 but it did not resolve the problem.

Then I removed the registry key mentioned in number 1 step and after that, I found the camera is working but it is in on and off mode. It is like the camera is blinking.

Please note that I am using a legitimate version of Windows 10 which I bought/received along with the purchase of the mentioned laptop. Please let me know if you need any serial number or product number from me.

Thanking you in advance for your help.

Best Regards,

Nishchal Nagre.
