POL: Changing a project's project site template...

Brass Contributor

Hi team

I've want to change a project's site template.  I've gone into Pwa settings and removed it but when I add the template again it's adding the wrong site template.  Can someone help me with either easily changing the site template somehow or tell me how I can change the default site template when adding using 'Connected SP sites'.
Many thanks for this

Hi @James_Price ,

The site template is set on the EPT. Update it on the EPT/s:

Then new project sites created after that update to the EPT/s will use the new template.

@Paul_Mather Thanks Paul, but how can I change the project site on an existing  project?  Many thanks

@James_Price

if you already deleted the existing project site for the project and then create a new site using the "Connected SharePoint Sites" menu the system always applies the template that is set in the Enterprise Project Type settings as Paul pointed out.
So, if you want to change the template, you need to conduct the following steps:

  1. For the corresponding Enterprise Project Type of the project, change the Project Site template to the one you want
  2. Go to "Connected SharePoint Sites" menu and select your project, click on "Create site" and the new template will be applied
  3. If you don't want to have the template for all new projects, change it back to another template in the EPT menu

Otherwise, you could create a new SharePoint site using the template you want and then use the URL in the "Connected SharePoint Sites" menu via the "Edit site address" button.
