HELP! Project Plan 1 to Plan 3 issue.

Copper Contributor

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could please shed some light on an issue for me regarding switching from Project Plan 1 to Project Plan 3.

The user has created a project using Plan 1 but found that it has too many limitations for her needs. I went ahead and upgraded her license to Plan 3 however she cannot get the project she created in Plan 1 into the desktop application (which you get as part of Plan 3). Is this possible?

I have tried adding another account and using the URL that she has however it is not a Sharepoint site. The project is using https://project.microsoft.com/en-gb/#/hubnew so if I try and connect to that it tells me no.

Basically she just wants to be able to open the Project in the Desktop application but from what I see she will need to start over using the new location?

Any help appreciated.

Kyle

Hi @KyleMoody251 ,

Unfortunately not, you can't open a project created in project for the web with a Project Desktop. See the comment "The Project Online desktop client doesn’t connect to Project for the web – as with all other future features, we will be evaluating this based on user feedback." found here: https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/project-for-the-web-and-project-online-desktop-client-2dd75...
