Differences between Plan 1 and Plan 3

Brass Contributor

We  (local government) need to explore the differences between Plan 1 and Plan 3.  We are totally fine with these being online access, but is Plan 1 robust enough for a Project Manager to run their own projects?

We don't need to connect to a central server either.

The price differential is staggering and we don't want to overbuy with tax payer money

Thoughts?

Hello @jhubbard ,

I guess you're looking to compare Project for the web with Project Online? It will come down to what your organisations requirements are for the project management processes. The Project service description shows the features for both: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/project-online-service-description/pr...

This article and video is also a good highlevel comparison: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/project-for-the-web-and-project-online-6569170c-5c8e-474e...

@jhubbard You can learn more about the differences here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/project/compare-microsoft-project-management-software. Both come with "Project for the web" capabilities, and that is the modern Project app in the web.

Project for the web, is Microsoft's most recent offering for cloud-based work and project management. Project for the web provides simple, powerful work management capabilities and can be used by project managers and team members to plan and manage work of any size.  Here is an intro video to Project for the web - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/get-started-with-project-for-the-web-50bf3e29-0f0d-4b7a-9...

You can also check out a trial for Project Plan 1 or 3 to start checking it out and seeing if it meets your needs.

Please let me know if you have any questions! I'm happy to help.
