Changing Task Information for Multiple Tasks - Microsoft Project Online Desktop

Copper Contributor

The version I currently use is Microsoft® Project® Online Desktop Client MSO (Version 2310 Build 16.0.16924.20054) 64-bit and I have been able to notice that the functionality to change the value of a field such as duration, for several activities at the same time, from the task information form, it is corrupted.
Naturally, I have opened a case with Microsoft to let them know that something terrible happened to the desktop tool, with functionality widely known to most experienced users. This issue, which I assumed would not go further, has become my frustration for a long time. What happens is that the ticket was escalated until it reached the experts who have informed me that what I have seen (impossibility of changing several tasks at the same time) is correct behavior. That is to say, there is no bug, it has never been possible to change several tasks at the same time from the task information form. Frankly, I don't know what else to do, they say that they checked with the experts and that I am wrong and they insist on closing the case. Any suggestions?

rbuzeta,
It sounds like you got some bad information from whomever you talked to at Microsoft. The problem you report was recently reported and is apparently do to an artifact of a recent update. Please see this post:

rbuzeta,
You're welcome and thanks for the feedback.

By the way, if Microsoft still wants to charge you for the ticket, I would protest.

According to new information received from Microsoft support staff, it is estimated that the solution to this BUG could be deployed on December 12, 2023

Mohammad2352030,
If you are using the Project desktop that is part of your Project Online subscription, according to this thread, the fix has been released.
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project/bulk-edit-not-working/m-p/3935750

However, if you are using the stand alone desktop version of Project, the fix has not yet been released although I suspect it will be within a week or two.

Update 1/5/24: For stand alone desktop users, this issue is fixed with the January 4, 2024 release of version 2312 (Build 17126.20126 CTR)

@Kdekruif

Good news!
I just checked that the latest update to Project Professional, version: Microsoft® Project® Online Desktop Client MSO (Version 2312 Build 16.0.17126.20078) 64-bit, fixes and restores the functionality of replacing selected task values, through Task Information dialog box (Task Information).
In addition to the automatic update, I remind you that you can try the update in bar menu > File > Account > Update Options > Update Now

I updated to this build: Microsoft® Project® Online Desktop Client MSO (Version 2403 Build 16.0.17425.20176) 64-bit. Bulk edit using the Task Information dialog box when multiple tasks are selected is not working for me. I was able to add the column "Type" to the view. Then I used the handle to copy "Fixed Duration" to the tasks below. A decent work around, but too bad I can't change multiple tasks using that dialog box. I used to be able to do this in previous desktop versions.
Christopher Sneed,
Sorry but I don't know what to say. It works for me and I have the same update version. You might try a repair of Project but I'm not sure how that works with a subscription version of Project.
