Actual hours are displayed on wrong date in Project Online Approval Screen

Copper Contributor

Hi all,

I have an example where a resource has reported 0,25 hours on Friday the 16th of 2024 on his timesheet in Project Online for a project task. On the same date the resource has reported 3,5 hours on holiday (administrative time) on his timesheet The timesheet is submitted for approval, the resource is his own approval manager so administrative time is automatically approved. The Project manager has to approve the hours on the project task.

In the approval center view of the Project manager of this task the 0.25 hours are displayed as 0.14 hours on 16th of Feb and 0.09 on another day in that week. So the 0.09 hours are displayed on the wrong date. I'm using Single Entry Mode. Hours are reported by day. What could be causing the incorrect display of actual hours per day in the approval center?

Best Regards, Marcel

@MarcelV275 There are multiple things that can cause this, one of the main things is the Project manager statusing time reporting tasks, which may not align to the actuals hours reported in the users timesheet.  Microsoft's solution is you must enable the Only allow task updates via Tasks and Timesheets under Task Settings and Display, Protect User Updates.  In my opinion this isn't a viable solution as it limits how a PM manages time reporting tasks.  We pull all of the data into Power Bi reports and do all our cost calculations, we have some custom calc MSP can't perform, using timesheet data as you can't trust the Actuals in the plans.

@RodFromm Thank you for your reply. The setting only allow task updates via Tasks and Timesheets under Task Settings and Display, has been on the entire time, so I think something else is causing this. The total actual amount on the task is correct and also the information in Power BI is correct, only the actual hours in the Acceptance Center are displayed on the wrong day.
