At Ignite 2019, we announced Project Cortex. Project Cortex applies AI to empower people with knowledge in the apps they use every day, automatically organizing content and expertise across your systems and teams to create a knowledge network, with built-in security, compliance, and workflow.
Project Cortex will reach general availability in early summer 2020, and we’ve already started introducing it to more than 75 private preview customers, such as Mott MacDonald, Siemens Healthineers and Arla Foods. As we get ready for broader release, we wanted to update our customers about how Cortex works with the rest of the Microsoft Cloud.
Cortex showcases what’s possible with Microsoft Graph, the gateway to data and intelligence in Microsoft 365. Microsoft Graph provides a unified programmability model that you can use to access your organization’s data in Microsoft 365.
Project Cortex extends the capabilities of Microsoft Graph to map knowledge to people, content, and modern work, and uses Microsoft Graph to deliver personalized knowledge throughout the apps in Microsoft 365, such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Search, Outlook.
Cortex extends the graph by adding topic nodes that associate knowledge topics with related content, people, and activity. It organizes your topics with AI and delivers it in the apps you use every day.
Cortex provides numerous ways to extend and integrate data with Microsoft Graph including:
Today at BUILD, we’re sharing details on new Graph APIs that allow developers to work directly with Managed Metadata Services, which provides a common taxonomy for tagging and classifying content across Microsoft 365. These APIs are integrated directly to Microsoft Graph for a unified development approach across Microsoft 365. You can now also work directly with knowledge and tags using our new extensions to the Graph, also announced today.
We hope you share our excitement about Project Cortex. Learn more at https://aka.ms/ProjectCortex. Thank you.
