Project for the web - May 2020 Update
Published May 29 2020 04:04 PM 4,088 Views

We recognize that work has changed drastically in the last few months and want to continue in giving you modern tools that support you and your teams. The feedback you provide through the “Feedback” button in the product or UserVoice for Project for the web helps us make decisions on future features. We read every submission and try to respond as needed -- be sure to provide an email address so we can reach out to you for further information!

The new features called out below may look familiar if you follow Project on the Microsoft 365 Public Roadmap, which gives our users notice of pending releases. Additionally, new features are announced on our monthly “What’s new in Project” article, which lists large and small features that already have been rolled out each month.

What’s the latest?

  • Copy Project - You can copy an existing project and use it to create a new project. This feature is being rolled out incrementally and will be available to all users soon.
  • Office 365 E5 user read only - Office 365 E5 users can now view Projects/Roadmaps that are shared with them in a read-only mode. Read-only access will be rolled out to other Office users incrementally in the near future.
  • Task scheduling changes - Starting this month, new projects that have tasks with resources can be scheduled by using a fixed duration behavior model.

What’s coming next?

  • Add Roadmap reports to the PowerBI template - Starting this summer, you will be able to export data from roadmaps to PowerBI. Then, you can report on Roadmaps using PowerBI templates, reports, and dashboards!
  • View persistence - Collapsing summary tasks and custom column width in Grid view will remain the same when you reload or reopen your projects. Find important information faster and get started quickly when returning to your work.

Answers to top questions

Q: Can I change the working hours for my project?

A: Yes! We have an article on how to do that here. Remember, you need to have admin permissions to do this, so check with your systems administrator if you need help with this.

Q: How do I set a milestone/deadline in Project?

A: You can set a milestone in Project by setting the duration of a task to 0. Milestones will appear as diamonds in the timeline but are not visually different from other tasks in the Grid and Board views.

Thanks for the update and I hope that Project for the WEB constantly adds the new features reported in the user voice.

just a question: to change working hours and create a project calendar, which type of admin permissions do i need? are there specific permissions for project administrators or do you mean generic office365 admin permissions?

can you provide us a link with the list of permissions for a project for the web administrator?

Thanks.
