Microsoft Project Trivia

Last Month:

Thanks to everyone who put their guesses in the comments last month!

Question: Which type of resource is NOT supported by Project for the web?

A:

  1. Equipment
  2. Placeholder
  3. Crew
  4. Generic

The correct answer was Placeholder. You can create non-user resources in Project for the web through Power Apps. While you can create Crew & Generic resources through Power Apps, they don't have all the same features as those resources do in Project desktop. To learn more about how non-user resources work in Project for the web, check out our support article here.

This Month:

QUESTION: Users with Project Plan 3 or 5 can create roadmaps including all their project information. What year did Roadmap in Microsoft Project first become available to users?

Thanks for working hard on this tool and improving it continuously!

As we switch from old and ancient excel tables to Project for the web in my org. we make use of the new features you are currently integrating!

What I really don't understand is why I can't access Roadmaps although I have the correct licenses (please find my licenses below (from PowerShell)).

After reading through this article a couple of times (Turn Project for the web or Roadmap on or off for users in your organization - Project for the web |...)
it is not possible to activate roadmaps as the project settings are not visible for my global admin in my org.

I already got in touch with Cliff from the Microsoft Community (I cannot find project settings in Admin Center - Microsoft Community).
Cliff couldn't help me as this seems to be an issue in Dynamics 365.

I also asked the dynamics community which couldn't help me.

You are my last chance of finding the right solution for this issue!

Thanks in advance for your help!

@Felix_F : You need to have a Project Plan 3 or Project Plan 5 license to use Roadmaps. The Project Online licenses that come with Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement plans (like shown) will not work. Also, the 'Project for Office (Plan E3)' is used for the view only access rights. I think once you have at least one licensed user with Project Plan 3 or 5, it will provision Roadmaps for you. I would contact Microsoft to make sure, but those are my thoughts.

Every month I hope is the month P4W will be available in GCC.  If anyone can give me some kind of sign that I won't be waiting much longer, it will be greatly appreciated.

The email as assigned works for some projects but many of my projects have tasks months out. If I could remind task owners and project managers of tasks coming that week, due, and past due that would be of the most benefit.
