Hello All,

So raise your hand if you have been sitting there starring at the SharePoint url once you paste it into and e-mail dumbfounded how it can take up 4 lines…

I know I have, I’m willing to admit it.

Well the Product Group understands that this is not ideal and have now fixed it this will improve several things like Search Engine Optimization and user experience.

What they have done is every time a page is created it is assigned a navigation term, and these navigation terms are combined to create the Friendly URL.  A page would have two url’s like this

http://www.contoso.com/Products/Inventory/Pages/productViewer.aspx?productID=115&name=vacuum%20clea...

http://www.contoso.com/products/household/vacuum-cleaner

And for those of you who need to get fancy you can assign multiple navigation terms to a single page so that you could have multiple url’s pointing to the same page.
