Unable to add comments to a planner task

Users in my organization are recently reporting that they cannot add comments to task. Their mailboxes are still on-premise. I have read in forums and blogs that non outlook.com users cannot add comments to tasks but my users were still able to do so with hybrid exchange. Did something change recently that has stopped this feature? Our tenant is on first release.

we had had the same problem.

In the moment our user can add comments to tasks in planner.

But the MS Support give us this link.

Adding of comments by non Exchange Online mailbox users is falky. A couple of days later after we were reported of this issue by some users, the functionality started working again. Seems like MS wants all users to migrate to exchange online, or rather O365 fully, before using any of the services. @Gerd Brandes. Thanks for your pointer.
