When assigning a task a start/due date, is there a way to get that info passed on to the calendar? Right now I'm not seeing the tasks start or due dates show up in the plan's calendar. Did I miss a step somewhere or is this missing?

Hi, has this been changed so that there is now an automatic link between the start/due date in Planner to Outlook calendar? (fingers crossed)

Cannot believe this doesn't exist yet... Please get to coding... work nights, weekends, holidays... provide proper services for your customers. Planner is an island as it exists today.

Don't get a third party app for this. Who knows what kid of compatibility/security issues you would run the risk of exposing your system to.
Just make a simple Flow. Search the examples for Planner to Outlook or create an Outlook event on new Planner tasks.
I think that will suit your need just fine.

They just completed the feature request "Add or Integrate Planner Tasks with Calendar". Here's the link to the user voice with some supporting articles.
