Why will the Trello Add-in be discontinued and what to do now?

Copper Contributor

Hi Outlook-Team,

I am shocked to read that the outlook add-in will be retired on December 15, 2022.

As a daily user of this integration, I am quite annoyed that this will happen.

What is the reason and can you suggest what to do instead?

Thanks,

You can try out the Trello Integration for the Outlook Add In Mailissa. It was developed to provide more functionality than the original Trello Add In. You can even assign multiple members on a card and transfer the mail as an .eml or .pdf file. Feel free to rewatch our free webinar and/or sign up for a free demo.

Thanks. Do I understand correctly that the free version of this software will cover all the functionality of the discontinued add-in?

I'll give it a look.

Hi janmb,
Mailissa itself has a free subscription type for the module Transfer after the free demo expires. But this currently only includes the integrations for microsoft products, such as Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive and Planner. Trello is currently not included in the free subscription.
If you want to have more information, you can book a time slot with one of our consultants for a free presentation of Mailissa. (https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/email address removed for privacy reasons/bookings/)

Thanks for the info but you may understand that paying 5.50 per MONTH for the currently free convenience of an extra Outlook button seems far from a good deal. I hope I don't have to change my mind here ;).

Did Microsoft ever disclose why they changed their position on this beautiful add-in?

Yes I understand that this may not be affordable for every user. With the 5.50 comes a lot more than only the Trello integration and you can even deploy your own add-ins or get in touch with us on adjusting them to your needs. But this may be more interesting when you are using Mailissa in a bigger company and use a lot of different integrations and tools.

I think its because they don't want to do any further support for it or work on bugs (which of course will appear if you integrate a 3rd party application). If you are interested in the full story, you can read this article: https://piunikaweb.com/2022/09/09/outlook-users-report-trello-add-in-button-not-working-or-missing/

@janmb  just discovered ‘Send to Trello’ seems to work so far, although it creates a card rather than update a current card
