My elderly parents both have @Verizon.net email accounts, which are now serviced by Yahoo. I want to get them completely off of Yahoo and onto Outlook.com, but don't relish the idea of having to tell every business they've ever given their @verizon.net address to, to switch to a new @outlook.com address. I know that I can set up an Outlook.com account (MSA) using an @Verizon.net "alias" (and have already done so), but of course email does not come to that MSA and instead goes to Yahoo. If I delete their Yahoo accounts, will their MSAs with @Verizon.net alias magically begin to receive email, or is there something else I have to do, or is that not possible? That is, right now email to fred@verizon.net goes to Yahoo, but I want it to stop going to Yahoo and instead go to fred@verizon.net (which is really an Outlook.com account). I think in technical terms what I want to do is switch their MX record for their @verizon.net addresses from Yahoo to Outlook. Is that possible?
