Setting up Outlook

Hello to all members, 

quick question: 

I want to install and setup Outlook on my new PC. However, I don't want Outlook to download all of my saved E-Mails from the server (I use Gmail as my primary mail address). 

Is there any way to set this up?

You have two options if using IMAP: after adding the account as IMAP, go into File > Account Settings > Account Settings. Double click on the account and change the sync slider to sync only more recent email. Or go into the gmail.com settings and set IMAP to only download the last 10000 messages.

If you use POP, you can set it (in gmail.com settings) to only download new mail from today - but if you use an old pst, Outlook should only download new messages.

Working offline won't really help - the old mail will download when you do a send and receive.
