"Send test email" function failed

When trying to setup outlook account in POP3, the step "Send test email" is failing and showing as "Kindly contact system admin or Internet service Provider (ISP)". My username and password is correct and SMTP server and port number is also correct, but still its failing. Kindly let me know is there any other methods that can resolve this issue.

Who is your email provider? If you have 2 step authentication enabled, you need to use an app password.

Outlook is the email provider . Password is correct but it is showing as "enter your username and password for the SMTP server server" @Diane Poremsky 

Are you using the smtp info from Outlook.com's Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Sync Email? Other server names may not work.
Yes I'm using SMTP from outlook settigs only. I have mentioned as "smtp.office365.com" in outlook.
