Outlook won't open

I just registered and paid for a Business Office365 account.  I am signed into the web portal, but the portal still shows the "Buy Office" link and still offers a free trial even though I am signed in with my paid account.  When I tried to log into Outlook on my Windows 10 computer it said there was a problem signing in (I didn't copy the exact message). Now when I try to open outlook it just hangs on the loading profile screen.  I've tried several times, restarted windows, checked task manager to make sure it was closed out properly before retrying... the usual.  This is totally broken.  Now I can't use the desktop application at all.  Do I need to uninstall and reinstall office?  How do I get this to work?
