Outlook not opening in 365

Downloaded 365 yesterday - sign in and password in Outlook brings window saying "we're getting things ready for you". Left running for 1 hour + with no change.

Have opened and closed Outlook several times, and re-booted several times with the same result.

I am being impatient, or is there a problem?

It's a new hard drive btw, so I don't expect any problems there.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, but if replying, please bear in mind that I'm a bit of a simpleton on the technical side!

Thanks, but nothing has worked up to now - link doesn't appear to address the problem, but I'm probably looking in the wrong pace.

Are you signed in to the Edge browser with a Microsoft account?
Have you enabled - ad blocking?
I still have a very simple way to easily certify for Outlook.
Please add your Outlook mail address to the Mail app for Windows - this should fix your problem - just credential your Microsoft account, you also need to restart your computer to make everything work.
