Outlook crashing on search

It's an Microsoft Office Home and Business 2016 - (en-us 16.0.16529.20182). Some searches work, but some, particularly containing an email address, crash Outlook with no warning or message. The same search target can sometimes work or not work.
Office has been fully uninstalled and re-installed.
The email account is hosted on Microsoft 365 Online Exchange Plan 1 and the same searches work fine in the web version of Outlook.
