I use Outlook Online 98% of the time. I used the desktop version when I wanted to review my Gmail emails. When I researched this functionality last March, there were too many horror stories. I decided not to connect my Gmail account to OWA.
You intrigued me to research this functionality again, and I found this article stating, "Microsoft removed the ability to connect any other accounts to Outlook.com on May 10, 2021, but accounts connected before May 10, 2021, will continue to sync."
Here are the full details.
Add your other email accounts to Outlook.com (microsoft.com)
