outlook 2016 professional migration to new computer

Copper Contributor

I apologize in advance if this not the appropriate forum to post this. I am replacing my old laptop with a new, both windows 10. In previous migrations I have been able to copy the pst file and move it to the new system. However, after installing the software on my new system, I discovered that outlook created an ost file, possibly because I did not uninstall the trial Office 365 first. How can I convince office to use the pst from my old system and forget the ost it created? Thanks in advance. Oh, getting the new software license registered was a debacle, but I'll post that in a separate post to perhaps help others who run into the same issue.
