Microsoft Outlook not responding

Copper Contributor

Microsoft Outlook is not responding on both my laptop and my desktop PC.

When I open Outlook, it downloads my latest emails from Hotmail.

But when I click on an email, it says Outlook(Not Responding).

Both computers are running Windows 10.  The laptop is running Outlook 2013 and the desktop is running Outlook 2016.

I haven't made any changes to my computers, but this just started happening a couple of days ago on both computers.  In both cases, outlook is using CPU (around 20 - 30%)

I have tried running in Safe mode and disabling add-ons, but that didn't help.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello! @Ryanoterp

Does this happen with one specific email or is it any email you try to open?

Have you tried any of the following?

  • Reparing Outlook / office
  • Removing and adding your email account in Outlook again
  • Typed "run" in the start menu and then "Outlook.exe /resetnavpane" To see if that works?

Let me know how it goes or if you need further assistance! :)

Thanks Oliwer.

Removing my Hotmail account and adding it back seems to have fixed the issue.
