How to delete an .ost file so latest Outlook file will work?

Trying to delete an older Outlook .ost data file, so Outlook (and Office?0 will install properly. Help?

@Randall_Nichols what happens when you try to delete it?   Why it is causing Outlook to not install properly? 

 

The ost file should be at %localappdata%/microsoft/outlook - delete or rename it. 

Somehow your response helped delete the older .ost file, and all seems fine.
I may have been thinking there were files I could access inside the .ost file and got nothing, when all I had to do was was delete it.
But whatever I did, you helped. THANKS.
The ost files can only be opened by Outlook, by the account and profile that created it. If you need to recover anything from it, you would need to buy a 3rd party program.
