Emails going to straight to the delete folder and being marked as read.

I seriously need some help all my emails are going into the delete folder and being marked as read.  I have went through all the rules and there is nothing that makes all my emails foward to delete.  Somone please help me.

There are a few possible reasons why your emails might be going straight to the delete folder and being marked as read. Here are some things to check:

  • Rules: Make sure that you don't have any rules set up that are automatically moving or deleting your emails. You can check your rules in Outlook by going to File > Manage Rules & Alerts.

  • Junk mail filter: It's possible that your junk mail filter is too aggressive and is moving legitimate emails to the delete folder. You can check your junk mail filter settings in Outlook by going to Home > Junk > Junk E-mail Options.

  • Malware: It's also possible that your computer is infected with malware that is messing with your email. You can run a malware scan to check for any infections.

Here are some additional things that could help you:

  • Restart Outlook. Sometimes a simple restart can fix minor glitches.
  • Create a new Outlook profile. If you've checked all of the above and you're still having problems, you can try creating a new Outlook profile. This will create a new set of settings and preferences, which may fix the problem. To create a new Outlook profile, go to Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles. Click Add and follow the instructions on the screen.

It is happening on the web email and accross devices. I checked the rules and didn't find anything and tried installing McAfee but was unsuccessful. Any instructions on how to checl Malware on a mac

This just started happening to me as well and it is happening on my outlook client, my mobile, and on the webmail page.

 

I'm wondering what setting Microsoft broke that triggered this bug. Just had a 30 minute heated discussion with my bank about missing email, and it ended up being in the deleted folder.

 

Does MS need better QA & testing?

I am seeing the exact same thing. Checked all of my 3 rules and junk mail settings, nothing is configured to do such a task. Anyone figure this out?

I am having the same issue, someone must have an answer?

This is currently happening to me in my work Outlook account. I use another service for my personal email. I have no rules set and my junk configuration is fine. What is the fix MS?!?

Am having same issue with email going straight to trash and marked as read. And when i move email into the inbox folder it goes back to the trash folder. Have you figured out how to fix your issues @JustAnAIBot 

@LeonPavesic   Nope - nothing has changed. Emails are still going into the deleted folder. In addition, when I open any of my emails they are a font size 40 even though it says it is 12 point.
What is the fix?

i have been having this problem for months. mine is even worse because the emails go straight to my deleted/deleted folder (the recovery folder) as read. the only way to access this folder is from a computer browser. i have listed emails as safe and added to contact list and it still happens. three chats with microsoft support brought me here. i am so annoyed and frustrated!

It turns out i had inadvertently downloaded a third party app on my outlook, which created the same issues you are having. Try the following and remove what you don't recognise.

Users can remove third-party app access from Outlook or Office 365 through the Microsoft Account page:
Log in to the account at account.microsoft.com/account
Click the Privacy tab
Verify identity using an email code
Scroll to Other privacy settings
Select Apps and services > Apps and services you've given access to
Choose the app to revoke
Click Edit under the app's name
Select Remove these permissions
thank you so much! i tried that. there were 5 there. one of which i don't recognize and was used in may. fingers crossed!!
that didn't work. guess i am going to have to swap to gmail. so frustrating and inconvenient.

So I was having a similar issue. I use Outlook a lot and haven't noticed this before until recently. My wife sent me multiple emails and I kept telling her I didn't receive them until she showed me the email in her mailbox. I then started a search that got me here after reviewing all of the rules I had set in my mail for someone who signed up for many articles and communities like myself, imagine the number of rules I had to review :sad:.

 

Anyway, I found the problem to be that her contact or email was added to a blocked list on my iPhone mail settings (please no one should show her this thread :smile:/babe I didn't block your mail please).

Note: I am NOT using Outlook app on my iPhone, if this is your case.

Go to Settings on your iPhone or Apple Device.

Settings > Mail > Blocked (You will see a list of email addresses that are blocked). Remove the senders' email from the list.

Until you remove the email from this settings it will keep moving the email to the deleted folder. If you have other devices other than iPhone, try the same checks.

I had two incoming emails from financial institutions that were going straight to the deleted folder. I had tried unblocking them even though they weren't blocked. I made a rule, and I also put them on the safe list. None of these worked. Then I was scrolling email things on my phone, and there it was. They were BLOCKED ON THE PHONE! Even though I had tried to unblock them on my pc, the block on the phone prevented me from unblocking them. I don't know how they got blocked on my phone (I probably did it by mistake). Was about a month before I just no found the problem. Good Luck,
Had the same exact problem. Did all of the suggested fixes but none worked. Then, I was scrolling emails on my phone, and saw that the two addresses were blocked. Don't know how they got blocked, but I unblocked them on my phone, and now they go to my inbox. I moved a couple of them to my inbox, and they stayed there!!!!! I had tried all of the fixes on my PC, but evidently the phone outlook was over riding anything I tried on my PC. Hope this helps you and others. I was very frustrated for about 6 weeks. @jamivansant exactly the same is happening to me. The only solution is to save emails in my contact list. But because it's a business email. I don't always have client's email saved in my contact, specially when they've emailed me for the 1st time. I just had to make it a habit of checking my deleted folder which is really annoying. I have search everywhere for solutions, but haven't found one. If you have a solution, i'm all ears
