Dark Mode is no longer working in Outlook Preview

Copper Contributor

I updated to the Preview version of Outlook today, and imported my settings from the older Outlook version as part of the upgrade. However, the Dark Theme didn't seem to transfer over.

I tried to manually set it. In the quick setting, selecting Dark Mode does nothing. In "all" Outlook settings, I cannot even select Dark mode. It is unselectable. Not greyed out. Just not selectable. I can select "Use system settings" and "Light" but not "Dark".

In fact, if I select "User system settings" and save it, when I try to select Dark after that, it selects Light instead.

@AaronDoyle the exact same thing is happening for me. I'm on Win10 21H2

I just turned the New Outlook toggle off and then after a few minutes turned it back on and it worked!
Going back to the old Outlook and then back to the new Outlook did not fix the problem for me. I simply could not select the dark mode option in settings and the use system setting option had stopped working. What ended up working for me was opening the Tips (light bulb icon at the top right corner) and one of the tips in there had a "Set a theme" button that did allow me to select the dark option. I did that, closed and restarted new Outlook and now the dark mode is enabled.
I have effectively the same issue. Dark mode semed to be working ok but when I switched to light mode to check readability of a font colour, it didn't want me to go back, with exactly the same pattern that @AaronDoyle describes. Finally switched after a few restarts but problem persists- once you switch to Light mode, it doesn't want to switch back.
I have the exact same issue using the Outlook web app.
Is there any news on how to fix this?

I'm having the same issue and can't seem to find any solutions online.
