Contact view is corrupted when changing the view to "People"

By default, Contacts in Outlook 2016 are set to "People." When clicking on a contact, the resulting window becomes very narrow and spans well beyond the boundaries of a dual-monitor set up. So far, in fact, that the window can not be "pulled" far enough left to close or alter. Clicking on Change View and selecting "List," "Card," or any other option corrects the problem and allows the contact to open in one window on one screen.

Anyone know what is happening with the "People" view? It's quite troubling and frustrating to deal with if you don't know what to do to correct the problem.
