I am having ongoing problems with both my IMAP and SMTP servers despite using all the correct ports, password etc.

I keep getting an Outlook popup "Something went wrong and Outlook couldn't save your account settings"

Short of purchasing some third party software that may or may not fix the problem, is there a step-by-step procedure that will fix the registry?

Hello Randy,

 

Seems you configured your email account into Outlook manually and then got the error message. First please try to run the Office quick repair and then see if it make any difference, thanks. For your reference Office repair.

 

On another hand, as this forum category is dedicated for Outlook OCM related problems, and your problem is related to the email configuration in Outlook Client not related to OCM. If you issue persists, in this case please post a new thread at Office 365 Forum > Office > Outlook category, the dedicated support engineers there would give you more effective assitance regarding your problem, thanks.

Advanced Computer User Solution (manual update):

1) Start your computer and log on as an administrator.

2) Click the Start button then select All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click System Restore.

3) In the new window, select "Restore my computer to an earlier time" option and then click Next.

4) Select the most recent system restore point from the "On this list, click a restore point" list, and then click Next.

5) Click Next on the confirmation window.

6) Restarts the computer when the restoration is finished.
