I have over 3000 contacts in my contacts folder. When I open Customer Manager and navigate to contacts there are only 70 in there. So how do I get Customer Manager to see or sync with my Outlook Contacts folder?

Only Outlook contacts enabled "Business" can show up in OCM contacts.

Given that you have multiple contacts, to achieve your goal, I suggest that you export all Outlook contacts to a CSV file and then import to OCM contacts. Meanwhile, to avoid duplicated contacts in OCM since there are some existing contacts in your OCM, I suggest that you delete all OCM contacts. (in Outlook as OCM contacts will automatically sync to Outlook contacts and it is not achieveable to bulk delete in OCM contacts). In case of data losing, back up all OCM contacts. The following are detailed steps:

1. Export all OCM contacts to back up data losing: select "Business contacts" in OCM> click "Export"> "Current View"> Save to your computer.

2. Delete all OCM contacts in Outlook contacts.

3. Export all contacts to CSV file: select "All Contacts"> click "Export"> "Current View"> save to your computer and rename it.

4. Import contacts: click "Import"> "Contacts"> select the second CSV file> click "Next" one by one.

 

Please note that if you need to set these contacts shared and let all users in your organization access them, to aviod extra trouble, you can select "Share imported contacts" in the Step 3.

Thanks for your reply.

I will try your method, but first I wanted to be sure about the syncing between Outlook Contacts and OCM Contacts. On this link (HERE) Microsoft says "Outlook Customer Manager works with your existing Outlook contacts. All of your current contacts are added automatically". But this clearly isn't happening for me.

 

Your workaround suggests I need to delete all my contacts from Outlook Contacts/People, and then import them to OCM. My concern is whether OCM will then sync back so that all my original contacts are in Outlook Contacts again or, as they don't currently sync from Outlook Contacts to OCM, they also won't sync back to Outlook Contacts and I'll be left without any contacts in Outlook Contacts.

 

Surely the point of the Add-In is that the contacts in Outlook Contacts are the SAME as the ones in OCM?

 

Do you have any more advice on this before I export and delete my existing Outlook Contacts? It's a scary prospect.

I thought I'd try some steps in your suggestion, and on trying to Export the current view of the OCM contacts it opened a webpage which said this:

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
<Error>
<Message>Authorization has been denied for this request.</Message>
</Error>
 
So I can't even export anything.

Your link didn't work, but I found the webpage in the end, and am now using Explorer, though this is a bit crazy.

Just to give you an update, I've decided not to use OCM. It's far too glitchy and doesn't sync with Outlook 365 so is a bit pointless. Plus it takes so long to present the contacts I have as I scroll down (I presume sourcing from online as I scroll) that working through 3000 contacts wouldn't be possible. Also, another gripe is you can't multi-select them...

So a bit of a wasted opportunity!
