Bulk delete contacts / where does OCM save imported contacts

I mistakenly imported bad data (merged doublettes and sample data form former CRM) into OCM and now have a list of 6000 contacts of which around 2000 are empty (no name/ not data in it...).
Is there a way I can clear the folder I imported the contacts to?
And, which is the fomder OCM stores the imported contacts in?
I hope there is another way than clicking the bin 2000 times.

Hi Paul,

 

The OCM contacts are stored as normal Outlook contacts.

 

So, you can bulk delete contacts under Outlook 2016 People tab.

Then, you can filter the contact you want and remove them.

As a tip, please back up all Outlook contacts before doing this to avoid mistaken deletion.

 

After all unexpected contacts are deleted, please refer to the following steps to force update the OCM contacts.
1. Go to IE settings > General > Settings under Browsing history > Caches and databases.
2. Delete cache files for the website "outlookapps.com".
3. Restart Outlook 2016.

thank you for your explanation. unfortunately I could not follow it.

I will try to describe possible reasons:

 

1. I really once imported conatcts. so now I have them in OCM, but not in outlook:

2. I do not have an IE on my system. I am running WIn10 on a surface pro4, office is 365 (not 16, i think 16 is the vesion for mac, right)

Interestingly I could not find the IE on my system (even search did not show it) but when I clicked FAQs in OCM it opened an IE window instead edge...

The solutions are not working for me unfortunately.

I'd like to delete some test data (contacts and companies) but cannot find them:

Contacts that where not created by myself (imported by a colleague) do show up in OCM but do not show up in Outlook itself

 

Clearing the cache does not help.

Based on my test, even though OCM contact are imported by CSV file, they are also in Outlook contacts. But we need to set all contacts shared. In this situation, I suggest that let your colleague delete or set all contacts shared.

thank you for your reply. I still have some issues and I hope you can give me some advice and maybe also point out how it is supposed to work:

 

- Imported contacts do show up at my colleague's Outlook contacts. Deleting them there does however not remove them from OCM. Refreshing Cache does not help. Any advise?

- Imported contacts from my colleague do not show up in my Outlook contacts. Is this supposed to be this way? If so - how can i import them to my contacts or any adress book for that matter?

- I still don't have any clue how to buld delete companies from OCM. They (by design) do not show up in Outlook. I could remove companies entries from contacts via SOAP. However, the companies still exist in OCM - which is bad. Any advise?

Hi Paul,

 

For the question 1, let your colleague delete from Outlook contacts, clear IE cache, wait some time, restart Outlook client. Contacts should disappear.

 

For the question 2, if the contacts are set shared, you are supposed to see them. When import, click "Shared" as below:

If you have imported, manually set them shared: double click a contact> click details> scroll to the down> shared contact> click yes.

I need to delete all the deals and contacts in OCM. There are 10,085 in people inside outlook and the same amount inside OCM. I am trying to get all these records contacts, companies, deals backed out so I can reload each one separately and be sure the cvs files are correct and complete without duplicates and then will import 1 at a time to be sure they are all formatted correctly. Also once we get all contacts imported with company and we go to import the company file will the contacts and company be linked as long as the company is listed the exact same in both imports. Lastly, when we import the “deals” can we also include the companies multiple on each deal, and contacts with ALL Information company, mobile, email, etc. Thanks for any information on all these bulk delete process and the import of each group , linked, and all linked together in a “DEAL”
