Knowing who’s who in your company is key for collaboration and getting things done.  So we're excited to bring the details of your organization to contact cards in Outlook for iOS.   Now, by connecting your company data with Azure Active Directory, Outlook for iOS users can quickly see who’s who at any time.  Who does your contact report to? Who reports to your contact? And better still, who are your contact’s other colleagues?  Knowing this might help you in a pinch if your contact is out of the office, for example.  Reaching out to other colleagues can help you take care of business.

All of this insight is quickly available whether you search for a contact or tap an email address in a message to open their contact card details, you will have the option to Show Organization information for all the people in your company.  No need to go the Global Address List on your desktop to know who’s who - access that information exactly when you need it on your iOS device with Outlook!

We also know how important it is to keep your contact details current and connected to the apps and services you need to get things done.  So we’ve made a few additional improvements to contact management features

  • On iOS devices, you can now save your contacts in Outlook for iOS with your Outlook.com or Gmail account.  But since combining your contact lists can sometimes result in duplicate entries, we’ve also introduced a process to reconcile and clean up duplicate contacts.  With your contact list clean and ready to go, you’ll know who’s calling with an accurate caller display (Caller ID).
  • For Android phone and tablet users, adding a contact from your company’s global address list to Outlook for Android now includes the little picture (or Avatar). This way, with Sync Contacts turned on in your Office 365 or Outlook.com accounts, your contact’s image will show when they call your Android device.
  • Lastly, coming soon in both Outlook for iOS and Android, deleting a contact from Outlook will also remove them from your native contacts app. Just make sure your Outlook settings have Sync Contacts in Android and Save Contacts in iOS turned on

We are gradually rolling out all these changes in the coming days and will continue over the next several weeks.

For more information and FAQs about the new contact management features and enhancements, please go to Help & Feedback in your Outlook for iOS and Android app Settings.

This is great news for users that really depend on the GAL and Contact syncing.

I've noticed that upon migrating to Exchange Online some of my colleagues have lost important contacts on their iPhones.  We have removed and simply re-added the Exchange Online accounts.

Any recommendations or solutions?

I read all updates on Contacts in Outlook with great hope that one day I can find a feature that is of use to me in a Small Medium Enterprise.

This update seems to suggest it is what I am looking for - a single repository for all my addresses with important additional information. However it makes no sense to me whatsoever and how I am going to change my life with this feature.

I have been working with Outlook since the first release. That had an address book. Then along came Contacts. These still exist as two separate pieces of code in Outlook, which means that when composing an email, the address will be in Contacts, but Outlook cannot find it. The inverse is true, you can have an address that you send an email to, but it is not in your Contacts. (And I'm not talking auto input).

Outlook on iOS still does not support photo (or Avatar) syncing for contacts. As an IT manager, I cannot recommend this feature to my Office 365 users until it does, as this is an essential part of the contact card.

I tried to leave feedback, but I can see this has been mentioned multiple times. So I'm still a bit baffled at why this still is not available.

You can use the iOS native accounts tab to just sync contacts, which does sync this information.

The Caller-ID function ( show contact info when a voice call or TXT arrives) is not working on many phones. Office 365 (Exchange online) + hybrid + Outlook 2016 on laptop + Outlook app for iOS on iphone. In the Outlook app on the iPhone, we have Save Contacts selected ("turned on"). However, we do not see the people in the Apple Contacts folder on the phone. Also do not see the mailbox contacts at iCloud > Contacts. ( I assumed we would.)

@DeletedI'm sure I have read somewhere that the phones default account for storing contacts needs to be set to 'iPhone' (contacts are stored on the phone) so the contacts Outlook syncs do not get replicated elsewhere. The Outlook app seems to check for this.

Thanks for the Reply.
From the Outlook help >  FAQ,  saw this --

First go to Device Settings > Contacts and confirm that the “Default Account” is set to “iCloud”.

and

Saved contacts will be added under the contacts in your iCloud account.

 We do have that configuration.

We do not see the contacts in iCloud.   (used icloud.com  >  Contacts     to verify).

Thanks.

It seems like we are not hearing much about this problem   (  caller ID does not work on iPhone,  with O365 mailbox,   with MS Outlook app,   with  Save contacts "on").

Therefore, wonder if it is something specific to our configuration.

Is there a Microsoft 365      Intune configuration setting     that would affect how Contacts work on the mobile device ?

Perhaps something like    "...disable saving O365 mailbox contacts to the device....".  (just an example.)

Thanks.

Caller ID,  on the iPhone, is working correctly now.

When a phone call or  "txt message" arrives,

the iPhone user sees the   contact name displayed,    instead of just the phone number.

And,     in the built-in Apple   Contacts app,   the  iPhone user sees Contacts from the Outlook contacts folder.

Not sure why it is working now.

mailbox is at M365  (Exchange online)

iOS -- 11.3.1
MS Outlook app -- 2.76.0
Intune -- some changes made by the m365 / Intune administrator;  but I do not have the details;   not sure if that had an impact or not.

This is very good It will be the best if you sync also Calendar like Contact in the Account settings (within the Outlook app on iOS device, Settings>Tap the account>Toggle on "Save Contacts"> tap "Save to My iPhone" at prompt "Would you like to save your [#] Outlook contacts to your iPhone?" > Tap "OK" to allow Outlook to sync Contacts to the iOS Contacts app.) It would really help user buy in case, for security reasons, linking server with iO stock apps is not permitted
