Should we have access to this functionality now if we are on the most current version? Not sure what "slowly rolling out" means.

Microsoft

Hi @John Butterworth. We are rolling out the feature via a mechanism we call flighting. All you need to do is get the latest Insider Slow build, which is 16.11 (180311). If you already have a Google Account added as IMAP in Outlook, a dialog will be displayed when the feature is enabled (when you receive the flight).

Thanks,

Jeff

Is this feature available for people without the office 365 subscription. I am on the office insider fast for almost a year now but haven't received this update yet.

Microsoft

Hi @Nitin Jain, this feature is currently available only to Insiders (Fast and Slow levels) activated with Office 365 Subscription license.

Copper Contributor

@Jeffrey Kalvass I just set up Insider Slow, I have an O365 subscription, and my Outlook is now 16.11 build 180311.

I have two different Google accounts, one is personal, the other is on an O365 subscription.

Dialog boxes popped up for both accounts asking me to sign in and approve.

After that, I went back to Outlook, but nothing has changed—still no calendars or contacts. I've closed/re-opened the app, nothing.

Is there something I can do to nudge this process along?

Thanks!

Microsoft

Hi Alex,

You'll need to re-add your Google account to get the calendar and contact support. Since you already have Google added as IMAP, did you see a prompt telling you Calendar and Contacts are now supported? Can you also check Outlook > About dialog and make sure your application is activated using Office 365 Subscription under License info on the dialog?

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

Hi Sunder,

Thanks for the info.

Is this feature not supported currently supported in Office 2016 for Mac Standalone (from MS VLC)?

How can we get this feature working on that type of license? Its a huge feature request for business users.

Copper Contributor

Hi - I was on Insider Fast and had an error today that required complete uninstall / reinstall (my Outlook for Mac stopped opening).  I had the full Google connect experience and it was GREAT.  However, now that the support team has helped me re-install Outlook, and I've re-added myself to Insider Fast, I am unable to add Google accounts with the beta functionality.  Is there any action I can take as I use these features to manage my business Google calendar and contacts (so a bit pressing to re-add the functionality I had been using).  Thank you!

Microsoft

Hi Bryan,

Did you use Help > Contact Support for your error that needed uninstall? Can you check if you are still activated using subscription (check License in  Outlook > About dialog)?

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

Hi Sunder, yes to both (License says Office 365 Subscription).  My support case ID from this morning is 1421845965 if you need for reference for the uninstall / reinstall.  Office 365 is re-installed now but as I had to re-enroll / enable Insider Fast, I do not seem to have the option to add G account when adding new google accounts to Outlook.  I've sent a another support ticket, rebooted, etc., but the option has not returned -- currently awaiting reply from the help desk.

Microsoft

Hi Bryan, can you please contact us using Help > Contact Support in Outlook for Mac?

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

Yes, this is what I have done and currently awaiting response.  Thank you!

Microsoft

Found your ticket - sent you a response via in-app support.

hello, I am using Microsoft Outlook with the latest version build 16.12. I am still not able to see my Google calendars in my account. I am an Office slow insider and have an institutional Office 365 subscription. DO I need to reinstall my google account again?

Microsoft

Hi Jagan,

Yes, you have to add your Google account again to get the new functionality with Calendar and Contact support. Existing account will remain as IMAP (just mail).

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

How do I create a new calendar entry so that it is connected to my Google calendar? I don't see any option for choosing the calendar or account.

Copper Contributor

Hi,

How can I tell when I will receive the flight?  I'd like to get this feature enabled as quickly as possible.  Thank youl

Hi there. I have 16.12 and am unable to see gmail calendars. I checked the box to be part of the insider slow program then clicked updates but there are no updates - so I'm a bit stuck as to how to add the gmail calendar urls to my mac outlook. Some idea of how I can make progress would be appreciated. Thx.

Copper Contributor

As an update I subscribed to office fast and installed 16.13 but I don't see where to enable the calendars - how do I know this functionality exists? Thanks

Microsoft

Hi Steve, can you contact us using Help > Contact Support so we can take a look at your diagnostic logs to see what's going on?

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

Thanks Sunder - I have done as you requested. Steve

Copper Contributor

hi there I have recently subscribed to insider, and would like to add a google calendar to my Outlook 365 account. i have build 16.2 (180410). Is it possible for me to do this?

Copper Contributor

WHere is Help > Customer support?  I have O365, with outlook 16.12 installed.  I reinstalled my google account but still no calendar.

Microsoft

Brock, are you on Insider as well? It's in the Apple Menu bar on top when Outlook is in focus.

Damian, presume you opted into Insider and installed the latest build? You may need to restart the app to get the flight definitions.

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

Hey Sunder - thank you - yes i have retired the app and the computer and the same version remains - i still can't add/sync a google calendar

Copper Contributor

Hi Sunder - any chance to take a look at my situation? Would be most appreciated. Thanks. Steve.

Copper Contributor

Hello everyone. I just moved to Insider Fast and am using Outlook v16.4, build 180502. After updating, I deleted my previously added Google App account and then added it again. I followed the prompt, signed in and approved access to my Google account. I can now see my Google calendar in Outlook (yay!). I can also add a calendar event in Outlook and it will show up in my Google calendar (yay!). However, if I open my Google calendar in Chrome and delete the event I just added from Outlook, the event is not removed from Outlook. Events added directly in my Google calendar also do not show up in Outlook. It would appear that any changes made directly to my Google calendar are not getting synced to Outlook.

Am I correct to assume calendar sync should be bi-directional? If so, can someone help me troubleshoot the issue? Thanks!

Microsoft

Hi Mark,

That's good to hear. Yes, with the new Google Account added it should be a bi-directional sync. Can you check if it was just a delay and your changes on Google Calendar in Chrome made it's way to Outlook? You can contact us using Help > Contact Support if this continues to be an issue.

@Steve Rokov - did you add your Google Account again after getting the Insider Fast build? When adding account you should see a dialog like this. If not, I'll need some info to look up your ticket that you sent us using Contact Support. Can you send me a private message here or on Twitter.

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

Thx Sunder. So when you say add google account again - what should I do exactly?

Microsoft

Hi @Steve Rokov,

Go to Accounts dialog (Tools > Accounts) and add your Google account again.

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

Ok Sunder - should I remove my account first or add it again? If I add again, does that mean I have 2 in boxes reflecting the same account? If I have to remove the account and then add it back, does all my local data get deleted and then resync'd? Sorry for the questions. Steve.

Microsoft

Hi @Steve Rokov - you can leave your existing account as-is. Yes, you'll end up with separate Google account with Mail, Calendar and Contacts syncing. Both will reflect the mails from your Google account and your new account will have Calendar and Contacts. You can delete your existing account; if it's configured as IMAP (check Accounts dialog to be sure) then all your mails are still on Google and new account will sync them back down.

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

Hi Sunder - I added my existing account. It looks like it's still synching back to my outlook inbox. But I don't yet see any other calendars (I assume they'd pop up in the calendar view). Maybe I have to wait for a full synch. However, I did not (yet) see the dialog box below .. Steve

Copper Contributor

Hey there -

I have Outlook 16.12 for Mac, but not a 365 subscription.

Am I correct that this means I cannot access my google calendar from Outlook?

That seems a little crazy, right?

Copper Contributor

Hi Sunder - I wonder if you could provide an update on how to move forward with my situation? Thanks.

Copper Contributor

I wanted to use this new feature (new Google support) in Outlook on my Mac.  I am on Outlook Office 365 for Mac.  I had an IMAP Gmail account connection set up that worked perfectly.  When I set up the connection, it immediately started downloading all my emails from my Gmail account.  It took some time (4-5 hours), but it downloaded all of them in one process.

When I installed the new version of Outlook that supported the NEW Google connectivity, I had to delete by old account and create a new one, which I did.  However, when I did this, Outlook did not (would not) download all the emails in my existing Inbox.  It downloaded some (current month - May), then I had to hit the Sync Folders button to get it to sync more, then it would only sync a few at a time, facing me to manually hit the Sync Folders button again, and again, and again.

Why does the new release support pulling all my email like the older release did?  I've read some excuses such as Google data limits, but that can't be because when I set up my previous account it all downloaded all the emails in one, albeit long, process.  Can someone please help me get my all emails to download?  Without all my emails one place, Outlook is useless to me.

Brass Contributor

I really love my Outlook for macOS, but I would even more love it once "MS Teams" would be supported e.g. schedule Teams meeting.

Is this on your roadmap for 2018? I do really count on that ;)

Microsoft

Hi @Steve Rokov - can you send me private message here or DM on Twitter link I shared above? I'll need your email address to look up ticket as I didn't find it using your full name. Alternatively, you can start a new ticket and use your full name so I can look it up.

@John Morrell - have you contacted us using Help > Contact Support? It'll provide us logs that we can use to see why you account is not able to sync properly. If you use your full name in the contact support dialog, I can pull it up on my side.

@Sascha Schmatz - yes, Teams integration is on our roadmap. I don't have timelines to share though.

Thanks,

Sunder

Microsoft

Hi @Steve Rokov - found your ticket. It was resolved already. Do you still need help with this?

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

Yes please (don't know why it was marked resolved). I cannot see the gmail calendars. I never did get that dialog box. Thanks

Sunder can we please re-engage on this issue? Many thanks. Steve

Copper Contributor

Hi

I just updated to Outlook for Mac 16.13 today and have lost all access to several gmail calendars that were running on my Outlook calendar.  I have taken a look at the various help topics but nothing seems to work.  Tried to "Open shared calendar" under "Organise" but only the MS exchange email account on my Outlook shows up as an option and that one already shows in my calendar.
The actual email accounts for these gmail accounts are still showing in my Outlook inbox and sending/receiving as normal. It is just the calendars that were there before the 'upgrade' that have vanished.   (I am on auto-update so assume I was on a current version of Outlook before today.)

To clarify - I have a O365 subscription and all this functionality was working fine until the update today.  Do I have to delete all the Gmail accounts & re-install them again?  Who thought that this approach was a good idea?

Copper Contributor

SO...this morning, I updated Outlook with the latest patch, and it un-synched my Google calendars.  I can't seem to get it back, even though I deleted the account and re-added.  The odd thing is that my email is just fine, and SOME of my calendar events have refreshed, but not all of them.   Any suggestions on how to re-synch just the calendar?

Thanks much.

Microsoft

Hi @Christopher Guinness - can you reach out to us using Help > Contact Support? We had to update build configuration that could have caused your flight to be turned off. I can confirm this if you contact support. If you need a quick workaround, you can open up Help > Check for Updates to launch Microsoft AutoUpdate tool and opt-in to Insider Slow. That is same as Production bits, but has Google Calendar and Contact support fully enabled.

Hi @Steve Rokov - I re-activated your ticket and sent you a message.

Hi @Chyp 16 - the update shouldn't have changed Google calendar sync on existing account. Can you contact us using Help > Contact Support? Please include a screeenshot of your Tools > Accounts dialog when you send us a note.

Thanks,

Sunder

Pls help:

I have 2 macs, both running office 365. both have been updated to latest version: 16.13 (180513).

following latest check for updates, I opened outlook:

Mac1:  prompted me to with the option to add Google calendar & contacts. which I did & all is well.

Mac2: I have not had the prompt & have tried reinstalling the update etc to trigger it, but to no avail.

I really would like to use this service on both macs if possible.

can anyone tell me how I can enable this service on mac2.

Copper Contributor

hi Sunder, I tried the work around that you suggested (accepting Insider Slow & then running Update) but this has only generated a downloaded update for Word, nothing for Outlook.

I have also contacted MS via "Help - Contact Support" whence a "John Y" has suggested the same work around.  I have given him the same reply as here.

Copper Contributor

Hello, Does anyone know if this feature works with Google's 2FA enabled? I'm having an issue with a user who had this working for her before, but since 2FA has been enabled, I cannot get the calandar to sync.

I've readded the account, but it's still just pulling down the IMAP address, is there a way I can just force it though?

Thanks!

Microsoft

Hi @tony rubenstein  - unfortunately, each device gets flights independently. Only way you can guarantee getting the flight on your second Mac is to opt-in to Insider Slow, where this feature is flighted at 100%.

Hi @Christopher Guinness - once you opt-in to Insider Slow, it might take a while for flight definitions to be downloaded to your client. You may also need to restart Outlook. I don't see your ticket in the system.

@Enzo Faranda - yes, new Google account support with Calendar & Contacts works with 2FA enabled. If you re-added the account after losing the flight, you will get IMAP only which doesn't support 2FA. You can opt-in to Insider Slow to get this functionality. We are going to roll this out to Production slowly, so alternatively, you can wait till it gets to 100%.

Thanks,

Sunder

Copper Contributor

hi Sunder, thanks but there should be a ticket.  Have had replies from 2 of your colleagues over there both suggesting the same thing. Trouble is that it's not working. Joined Slow Insider 2 days ago, have restarted Outlook & Mac several times & run Update for no result...  My Outlook for Mac version is still 16.13 (180513) and no updates seen.

Copper Contributor

OK, so I logged out & closed everything down for an hour or two (as Support suggested) and then restarted Outlook.  (All of this on a Mac) Immediately had dialogue boxes from Google asking if I wanted to share access for my Gmail accounts etc with Microsoft Cloud etc.  Approved everything (including the inevitable security alerts from Google about 3rd party app access) and restarted....  Still no way I can see to add the calendars to Outlook.  Going to the Organize tab in Calendar still only offers existing MS related email accounts already set up on the computer, no sign of any of the Gmail accounts (4 or them) also already set up on the computer and whose email functions fine (and always has).
Asked Help and then Googled how to set up calendars but all instructions seem to related to PC users not Outlook/Office for Mac.  Tried another re-start but nothing changes...  Feels like some progress but not there yet...

Microsoft

Hi @Christopher Guinness - found your ticket and replied a few minutes ago. You are all set from flights standpoint since you saw the dialog asking you to add Google account. You need to re-add the Google account again to get the new functionality. Existing IMAP account will be left as-is.

Thanks,

Sunder
