Is it possible to set up a class notebook with students outside my school?

Iron Contributor

I teach a virtual learning network class (several schools across the country joining my school for video conferences) and it would be  great to use OneNote for it, but I don't know if its possible to do so outside my organisation, or with schools that don't use O365.

Any ideas?

You should be able to invite external users to your OneNote file even if they are external - and even if they don't use O365.

Maybe, but I want them to actually have a section in the class notebook, not share the notebook. When I tested it with a known non-organisational email address like gmail, using 'add or remove students,' it didnt recognise the address.

Ah, then no. The solution is designed to work within the class, and that assumes that each class member has an Office 365 account within your tenant.

@Loryan Strant I saw this reply in 2017. It it still not possible?

I don't believe this has changed, as it's not designed to work with guests.

@Loryan Strant Thank you for the answer. which is a shame, because I give training courses and I would like to do that via onenote Class. I will have to find another solution.
