What happens to a user if we enable ODB sync app via GPO and they are unlicenced?

If we enable the sync app. Will an unlicensed W10 user get any sys tray alerts about new apps and to please log in?

Does anything automagically happen to licence the user or is it dependent on the user having preexisting O365 licences to cover it - a SharePoint licence for instance?

There's no magic, you have to license the users yourself.
