Unable to delete files from desktop after move to OneDrive for Business

I changed the location of my desktop to my OneDrive for Business folder so that it would sync.

 

If I try to delete a folder/file from my desktop, nothing happens.  My folder/file does not get deleted and I don't get any messages.  If I go into File Explorer to my OneDrive folder, I am able to delete the folder/file.

 

Any suggestions?

I've seen similar behaviour but its random and only affects some files, I've not found another work around other to the one you suggest.
