"Incompatible Office Products" error message rears ugly head again

Copper Contributor

We're having some end-users get the annoying ODfB pop-up saying "Sorry, we can't perform this action. Incompatible Office products are installed on your machine..."  This was an issue with a patch last year, but it has cropped up again. I can't seem to find what patch may be applied, and of course I hate to undo patches as a workaraound. The affected Office installs have Office 2016 Pro Plus (msi) installed, not the Office 365 ProPlus click-to-run. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Thanks!

Are you using the next gen sync client or groove?

It appears I'm running the Groove.exe, based on its existence in the Office16 folder. I renamed it and the prompts went away, but it's been rendered completely inoperable.  For reference, I am running the MSI version of Office 2016 Pro Plus (not click-to-run) since I also need to run Visio 2016.  Is there a way to manually install the other one?

Thanks!
