OneDrive Excel Sharing

Iron Contributor

Hi, We had a recent issue where one of our users told me they were getting a message when opening a Shared Excel Document in Excel Online. It was stating that the document was Locked for editing by another user.

It turns out that another user had opened the document in Excel (Desktop) and this was causing the issue. Fortunately we were able to find out who the user was and ask them to close it.

Is there a best practice on how we as an admin can see who has the file locked for editing and is there any mechanism that we can administratively close the file to allow others to edit the document?

Any help/guidance appreciated.
