External Sharing

We do not have external sharing allowed for OneDrive (or SharePoint Online). Recently we were asked if its possible in enabling external sharing for OneDrive (or SharePoint Online) for only one external business partner. Maybe if we set up federation with our external business partner it may help ensure only them and no one else external to our company can access content in OneDrive (or SharePoint Online)?  Thank you for your feedback and guidance.
