Does Win10 Search index "file on-demand" cloud-only files?

Regarding Files On-demand files that are cloud-only... Does Win10 Search query the OneDrive cloud for indexing info, or does Win10 search not index contents of OneDrive files set as cloud-only?  I thought I recalled reading somewhere desktop Search was to eventually include SharePoint Online search results (part of M365?), so I was hoping it would include improved OneDrive search results.  UserVoice thread has some people upset it appears it does not index FonD files that are cloud-only.

It doesn't, and it's annoying as fact. Even more annoying is the fact that I cannot even see my ODFB under indexing options. Complained about it a while back: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/OneDrive-for-Business/OneDrive-client-and-Indexing/td-p/21932...
