Cleaning up the old OneDrive for Business (Groove) sync client mess

MVP

What are people doing around removing access to or disabling the old OneDrive for Business (Groove) client on PCs?

I am working with a customer to roll out the Next Gen Sync Client to all users, and then deploy the takeover command.

However we want to ensure the Groove client is completely disabled/gone. Can it be removed from the Office 2016 installation (ie. re-run the install and remove the component) or can it be removed/disabled another way?

Thanks

If you install Office 365 ProPlus by ODT, you can exclude Groove from the installation.

But, AFAIK, Groove cannot be removed from an already existing Office 365 ProPlus installation.

You can disable Groove autorun, though, removing the shortcut from shell:startup.
