Question regarding Room mailbox and Equipment mailbox

Hi,

I have two questions regarding Room mailbox and Equipment mailbox.

1. How to convert Room mailbox to Equipment mailbox?
2. What could cause that Room mailbox is converted to Equipment mailbox by itself? Recently users reported some room mailboxes have been converted to Equipment mailbox, but no one did it. I wonder what has happened? Does user have permission to convert them or has to be administrator? Is there log files that I can look at for this change?

Hi Grace,

1. To convert room mailbox to equipment use below:-

First connect your powershell to exchange online, following below article :-

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/exchange/exchange-online/connect-to-exchange-online-powe...

Then run below cmd:-

Set-Mailbox "Email Address of Room Mailbox" -Type Equipment

2. Only and admin can perform these conversions or user with enough RBAC permissions. To check who made these changes you can check administrator audit logging :-
